Anyhow, I’d not mind seeing advertising in AH, I’m used to it everywhere else. I may be in the minority in that regard however but then HTC becomes reliant on them instead of us. Ugly double edge there.
Popular games, bands, brands don't need much advertising. How many times do you see a Pepsi or Coke commercial these days? Many Led Zepplin concerts were sold out by word of mouth before any advertisement and the tickets even went on sale.
Aces High has been over-shadowed in the last decade by other modern games and a lot of them. so it's become a connoisseur type game. Advertising on History Channel stopped years ago now. So basically, while you do a search for games you get pages and pages, and what's most popular will be on top. IL-2 and DCS are in their prime and therefore well known.
So it's not advertising in AH, it's advertising outside AH bubble. We all know it's here and stilling running, we don't need it, it's those prospective return players and new players that need to get the advertising.
Last year during MotA we had done quite a bit of sharing info on other forums and message boards, we popped up from 12-120 to 160-200. But after MotA it tended to stop and here we are again. It has to be constant in our case so that there are replacement for numbers who leave the game. New and Return player count needs to be higher then those who move on.
Pretty much the reason I made MotA vid, something to advertise with. But however you get the word around that we're still alive and kicking, the better off we'll be. Since we don't have an advertising firm, or HTC group it's up to us if we sink or swim.
