875 IAP Yak-7B
« on: October 30, 2024, 03:47:26 AM »
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin, one of the four early war Soviet fighter skins requested by Devil.

This Yak-7B was flown by A.P. Chernobay, deputy CO of the 875th Fighter Regiment in 1942. On each side was a scroll with his seven kills marked as swastikas crossed out in red, (which I have replaced with crosses as per the AH rule). The white stripes on the wing and tail seem to have been a divisional marking that was used at the time. The 875th were moved around a lot during the war, spending time at the Northwestern, Southwestern, Stalingrad, Kalinin, Bryansk, Baltic Fronts and Belorussian fronts. In March 1943 they were renamed as the 66th Guards Fighter Regiment.
