$15 a month
« on: November 19, 2024, 04:26:56 PM »
For my £15 I get a huge amount of entertainment and a chance to belong to a community of like minded individuals. I think we should remember this is not just one among many other on line games.

When I think of how much time I spend here it is the cheapest best value for money of anything I do.

I don't think there is anything similar out there?

Is there?

I have tried Il2 and DCS and this is more immersive and has way more levels.

Going forward I am concentrating on this for fun and DCS to get max feel for what it is like to fly a Spitfire in Normandy at huge investment in hardware.

USA is the richest country in the world !!

OMG do you balk at $15 a month  :D

I live in the UK and it is nothing  :D

Our minimum wage is close to $20 an hour now. WTF is going on over where you are fellas  :bolt:

We look to you for guidance in the "free world" and you haven't got $15 !!

I am like 100 hours a month at 15cents an hour and it saves me from senility.  Our health service should make it free for all the money they would save  :aok

Maybe Europe should send you some money ? Pay you back for the Marshall plan ?

Seriously I am sorry you are so hard up for $15  :frown:

Is $15 allot of money in the USA now ?

I am sorry I had no idea you were struggling to pay a bill like that

I hope you get your economy back on track  :pray soon.

We are lucky in the UK $15 nothing like 3 coffees

I had no idea it was allot of money stateside.  In the UK it takes about half an hour a week for someone to earn AH SUB for a month. I think that is terrific value for money  :aok

It’s all relative. Of course $15 is unnoticeable by some and for many it’s the difference between eating that week or not.

It’s not about the amount it’s about the value you personally perceive from it. You have clearly describe why the $15 is well worth it to you. I agree with you for the most part.

I so feel though that if we all agree that development is done and HT concurs, then what we have is all we are going to get. To me, some of that $15 was to cover the cost of new stuff so maybe it’s time to drop AH to $9.99 until it dies. I only play a couple hours a night if I can so to me it’s sort of worth it for now.

Doesn’t meant that will also be the case. Luckily I play during the prime time hours but those peak numbers continue to decline every month. If there were regularly near or less than 50-60 players then I would not feel the $15 is worth it. I fully realize that 50 players is more than some people ever see when they play.

It’s all relative.
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

Whether people like suds or not, the $15 complaint is kinda weak, including perceived principle.

Its ”do it my way” for $15, or else. Its a weak leverage tool that has yet to work and over talked.

I don’t even notice it missing.

But I expect the thread to be beaten with a dead horse.

Sorry, this is nonsense. Most of the complainers play more than one game among a mountain of other nonsense reasons. If someone can’t eat for a week because of 15$ they should not be playing anything and their priorities are screwed up. 1 damn McDs happy meal. One meal of one day.

I think the impression is from Europe that it is harder to be poor in the US than here. £12 a month would be considered cheap entertainment for what you get from AH anywhere though.

The illusion of wealth in the United States is due to cheap credit here...

Many if not most live way beyond their means and run a monthly credit card bill(s), never paying it/them off..some running into the 10's of 1000's of $$..

This is why the populous and our irresponsible spending gov crave lower interest rates..they think that they can afford more with less..

So yeah to many $15 would seem like more as they are starting at less than zero every month..

To compare ah to McDonald's you only have to look at the average American and see they'd rather eat than do anything else..

I wonder if there is an average American. You are very diverse. In the UK we are multi cultural but outside of cities we are probably more homogenous.

I think though credit is a feature of most modern economies. USA was going to be on a par with CHINA 10 years ago but despite your rather fractured society you have a habit of surging ahead of everyone else somehow. You definately have something going on there though it all looks like a mad house from EUROPE

Congratulations on whatever it is but you keep winning whatever  :salute

I think one thing we should all come to terms with. That is and I think we are getting it here in Europe. Some people are just useless economicly and should get there £15 dollars a month for free to keep them busy having fun and not doing crime or complaining. Personally I would like to be one but sadly I have some inteligence and tallent and find it hard to convince the state I am unemployable so work for myself BUT AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE.

We should try and enjoy ourselves and remember most of the greatest people who ever lived are dead or will die and some were quite miserable anyway. Play on  :old:

Anyway if we stopped wanting too much machines could do all the work. Ambition is the problem and ambition that makes us want a new kitchen and car etc Make do and mend  :old:

$15 and a 5 year old PC

Here is a good story:  When I was ambitious I lived in an expensive riverside apartment in London with a Sauna, Jacuzzi, Gymnasium and huge swimming pool and we each of 100 appartments paid $10,000 dollars a year for the up keep of the facilities and staff on top of everything else. We were all so busy making money we hardly used any of this except when we had guests to show off to them what we had !! I could use the facilities on a Sunday and no one else showed up all day !!

When I had a free day did I go swimming and Jacuzzi. Did I F@@@.  Me and the then Mrs ordered a bucket of KFC and played video games or watched Star Trek TNG  :D    Best thing about that appartment was you could sit on the toilet and watch the TV   :aok

Which Reminds me there was a survey of English men and Women done recently and I wonder if it applies in the USA:

Mens Favourity activities:
1) Watching TV
2) Drinking Beer
3) Going to the toilet

Womens Favourite Activities:
1) Meeting other women
2) Talking about relationships
3) Crying

No one has all the answers whoever they are and there it is

I agree completely. Unlimited play, consistent with a very few glitches, decent modeling, etc.  All created by a very small team of folks, not some big corporation.  I'm happy with my $15 worth of enjoyment.

15 bucks is not a lot of money here in the states. We do have a lot of folks in the northeast and west coast that struggle with math though.
