OK it is kind of relevant
« on: November 26, 2024, 12:56:58 PM »
So what would have happened if the Nation with the largest Navy in the world had not gone to war in 1939 to put a brake on German expansion into Eastern Europe . A Nation facing an enemy with no interest in its territories or presenting no threat to its trade or future prosperity and not a part of Europe ?

Am I talking about USA or UK ?

One can't help thinking Germany and Russia would eventually have slugged it out and the post war settlement might have been very different. Two horrible dictatorships one only slightly better than the other and Japan ................ who knows.

Different plane set maybe ?

Its very arguable WW2 in Europe was mostly Germany v Russia with some help from the UK and allot more from the USA when it came to war material for the Russians.

Its arguable a very large part of europe was not liberated until 1990.

I think the idea is that in a democracy there has to be a war before you can get the country to arm up the military. Look at Ukraine !! If the democracies would step up we would not have to worry about the despots having a go at us. Somehow though people still think it is possible to appeal to reason with autocrats.

However the pre war Aircraft did stack up reasonably well:

In order:

1) Spitfire

2) P40

3) Hurricane

4) Brewster ?

Not that Bad against the E mil and 110.

Jeager1 is always open to suggestions for Monday Night Madness for plane sets and maybe different maps. lol you probably haven’t flown the map we usually use all of the high. Rise towers

Largest, as in numbers apart from tonnage, does not mean most powerful. Though in 1939 the UK probably did hold that distinction.

Germany would be much bigger with all of Russia's territory. That is how it would have been.

But if we Colonials hadn't rebelled, Britain would have been so strong Europe would eventually become their client state(s) and Russia would have joined alongside.

It was a huge mistake not killing Stalin and the soviets after we got Germany and Japan.

The man that suggested it was killed in a car accident. He thought we should just continue on and finish the job.
