A guy down the street from us hunted wild boar with a 13” knife. Some were 200-400lbs.

Wild boars don't stab back!  :old:

That is the standard method for pig hunting here. Dogs are used to track and hold wild pigs - hunter slips the knife into the heart. The usually carry a gun as backup though. Search for pig hunting nz on youtube and you'll see some interesting stuff.

Wild boars may not stab but they will definitely slash you. Wild pigs are one of the most dangerous animals in the woods. They have tusks that are razor sharp and they do know how to use them. Those dogs that chase hogs thru the woods wear Kevlar vests for a reason, also the reason man lets the dogs pin the hogs down before he goes in and stabs them with a knife.

Hang on, hang on, now there's dogs with Kevlar vests. Not the one hillbilly going into the backwoods armed with a Rambo knife and an empty stomach. It's hardly sporting, if the dogs have kevlar vests I think it's only fair the wild boars be given Glocks

The guy I knew used blood hounds to find the pigs, called them back then set loose 3-5 pitbulls to srround it. In the 70s I’m not sure Kevlar existed.

Same guy also raised large snakes. A lil goofed to begin with.

How does Sam's meats compare to Costco? We have a Sam's here but no Costco. Used to get our meat at either Albertson's or Costco in Idaho. the Albertson's here is lacking.

We do have an HEB coming next year. I think their meats are popular.
Here we put salt on Margaritas, not sidewalks.

I have never heard of such a method.  Why not just run curs?  They live to hunt, will sniff out a hog with no problem, and have way more stamina than pitbulls.  Not to mention the chaos that must ensue while trying to use two separate groups of dogs, for two separate jobs on the same hunt.

Same. My shoes stay clean, my dog stays safe and I don't have to cut stuff up.
I used to do all that stuff but I now find it more pleasant to fire up the grill and sit back with an iced tea while listening to my neighbor's horror story of getting his elk off the side of a mountain during a blizzard. Yeah, no.
It's nice when he gives me some steaks though!
Baby seal onboard, go around!

I reckon you haven’t come across a wild boar before. Their tusks make a Bowie knife look like a tooth pick.

Publix meat is awful. Costco of all places has good beef. I tend to buy either a whole strip loin or rib roast once a year and steak em ou.
