If I go to a Skynrd concert, will I get to hear Ricky sing "train train"?

I worked 2 shows after the plane crash as house electrician. Basically I just tied in there 220v power cables to our 220v transformers.

I met Ricky in back hallway being ushered to stage right position. He bummed a cig from me. Had I known he had lung issues I would not have given it to him. He’s now down to one lung. He probably bummed one with me because no one else would.

I just couldn’t get into them like I did seeing them in 77 in Chicago Super Bowl of Rock with Ted Nugent and other bands. I don’t think they captured that same stage presence. Basically its now a tribute band.

I didn’t hear any Blackfoot songs. I would think it would be a dumb move since the whole show is LS immersion. So I doubt it. I can always be wrong.

Eagler’s second vid is actually on a Rolling Stone’s touring stage. They were openers. Jagger demanded they could not use the tongue of the stage. Thats for Stones only, LS agreed. Ronnie being who he is, got their show going and went out on it anyway. Jagger was ultra psssed and threw a fit.

Nothing matched seeing them like in 77 before the crash. It’s an O K show now.

I would have rather seen Donny Vanzant from 38 Special, I worked with a cpl times, replace Ronnie. He was a lot closer to Ronnie image. Johnny is a nice guy, but IMO he no Ronnie. Not sure anyone can properly replace him. Like I said, its more a tribute band now anyway.

Saddest thing was seeing Collins wheeled in a wheelchair to visit the show before he died. He was in horrible shape, it was a sad sight.

I did work with one of the surviving backup singer girls on a Molly Hatchet show in early 90s

A blonde across the street from me in Riviera Beach had two Harleys in her garage.

She said one was given to her by the drummer of molly hatchet.

I wouldn’t doubt that. One show I did with them was a huge biker/harley fest at a race track in
IN, i helped a club purchase the show. I did some with and without Danny Joe Brown. The replacement…meh. Thats also a hard vocal to replace.

Prince live 1987.

I remember a very early prince interview where he said he used to park in the high school parking lot near the fields and groove on what the school band drummers were practicing…….without the rest of the band distracting him from the percussion awesomness.

End of the first song shows that influence.

A single a good friend Louis Svitek and his band Doctor Crypto put out, former guitar player for Ministry
Has an old skewl rook/pop hook to it. Almost reminds me of a Hawkwind song

I saw some Skynyrd earlier in the thread...   :rock

IIRC, I heard in a documentary/interview that RVZ hated this entire album because it was rushed and released less than a year after Second Helping.

Seems like the piano could have come up to round it out to their norm. Drums could have been a lil more creative…on this song.

I can kinda understand his POV.

1st saw bad company my junior year in 1976 when a new sounding bad called Kansas opened for them in the coliseum in Jacksonville Florida ..

It was their Running with the Pack album tour..

Found this on the Internet..
The setlist was as follows: Live for the Music, Good Lovin' Gone Bad, Simple Man, Young Blood, Wild Fire Woman, Feel Like Makin' Love, Deal with the Preacher, Ready for Love, Sweet Lil' Sister, Shooting Star, Run with the Pack, Seagull, Rock Steady, Honey Child, Can't Get Enough.. Encore: Bad Company.

One of my best concert memories ever   :aok :old:

Nothing like that these days..
