New hope for the Reverb G2
« on: June 08, 2025, 08:49:49 AM »
Looks like there might be a work around Windows discontinuing WMR and being able to continue to use the G2.  If anybody can figure it out it is Mbucchia.

Looks like August 29th will be the day the Reverb G2 will be saved:

I have tested the Steam adoption of the driver to continue Reverb G2 support. It does work. Of course, it uses SteamVR, so it comes with the penalties of using SteamVR. But it worked great in DCS World. But my Reverb G2 gathers dust because I currently use a Quest 3.

My G2 has caught alternating black lens disease.

I just installed Oasis last week on a new computer to keep my G2 in the came and I must say it works fantastic...I saw a guy on Youtube comparing it with WMR and it is only using about 25% of the resources that WMR was hogging.  It also has a Brightness & Saturation adjustments which is fantastic because my G2 always seemed a little dark and AH3 doesnt allow Gamma change in VR..now I can  :D

It was my experience in DCS World that performance was noticeably better using OpenXR rather than SteamVR: but Windows Mixed Reality was up and running either way. I really wish Aces High supported OpenXR so I could use my Quest 3/Virtual Desktop as I do for DCS World.

It was very generous of Steam to support the Oasis driver to keep the G2 and several other WMR headsets operational. I will shed no tears when LINUX and/or SteamOS takes over as the primary gaming OS.

Gents, need some guidance on the Oasis driver on steam.  First I’m still W10 with a pc that won’t support W11 upgrade because of hardware limitations. Reading about the Oasis driver, it’s intended for W11 but, “may” work with W10.

So, first went to steam and selected AH just to see if there was any chance of my G2 still working without the Oasis.  Steam advised that my trial period has expired and wanted me to subscribe to the monthly charge, despite having a current and up to date subscription with AH.  Not sure what’s going on, since being a multiple year subscriber with AH.  Any ideas?

Yes, I need a new pc, or a rebuild of the current one to support W11.   That’s a down the road plan.  Just want to get the G2 firing on all cylinders.

Thanks in advance!

I think the subscription you get on steam is treated as a separate subscription then one you have without using steam..

I’ve never had a paid subscription on steam since beginning use of the G2.  It was part of the use of wmr and vr.  Don’t understand the need for two subscriptions to play AH in VR.

Is WMR still on your machine? If so fire up the headset, start steam VR, then click on AH. If no WMR then install the Oasis Driver and do the previous steps. Will this work I don’t know but that is where I would start.

SNO, tried your suggestion and it worked without all the previous garbage.  Still have WMR and it seems to operate normally, as it can.  Any further issues with it and it’ll get deleted for an Oasis install.  Thanks! 👍
