VR and bombsight
« on: July 20, 2026, 03:22:42 PM »
When I go to the bombsight in VR, I have a heck of a time looking down long enough to see the upcoming target.  I have tried using a look-down button but was unable to use that view.

Anybody have a solution to that problem?

I might try  getting head position in the bombsight to move then hit I think it is F10.  Maybe that will work.

I lean forward a little and look down which works good for me.

I use the look down function. Works just fine for me. F6, calibrate, use my mapped look down button.

Yeah, I can. As a matter of fact I can see farther in VR than I can on my screen. The problem with for me is my head movement. In the commanders position I can look around with out having to move the turret. In the gunners position, moving  your head does nothing, you have to move the turret to look around.

Jimmy, I will try again using the look down button.  I may have  my look-down button in the wrong Mode.

Eagler,  With VR you have to set locked gunsight then learn to not move your head vvery much in the gunsight.  Things like a Jeep 50cal are no problem.  Now 8th Jinx is a master at Commander position shooting.  He might offer some suggestions.

Interesting though is the crystal light has a good bit of binocular overlap which is good and bad.  Good for almost everything but bad for soft guns and the like. That is guns like the V-base 17# canon can be a bit of a problem where the old G2 worked perfectly in that gun.

I used to spend hours in GVs in VR. Sometimes it was quite relaxing, waiting to ambush, listening to the birds, watching the free airshow. I did find some tank sights quite difficult, especially the german ones where you cannot see the range info (I used the locked gunsight view) as it's at the top of the VR screen. So I used mostly M4's.
