Pongo - I believe they were called "Fat man" and "Little boy".  I have some pictures from the Atomic Museum in Albequerque that I could post but I gotta get them back from my girlfriends house and scan them.

Ah, it was built and used in combat during WWII.
And unlike the AR234, it had an effect on the outcome of the war.

As for the use of gas, IJN/A and Italian aircraft should be able to do so.
Read about what happened to a ship full of Allied mustard gas that got bombed in Italy
by the germans...

Did I ever tell you all that I got the dash of my '43 jeep signed by Gen. Paul Tibits :-)

Did you know that the B-29 could carry two Tallboys :-)

MC202, I did not know that... they COULD, but DID they ever? Never heard of this. Cool.

John9001's suggetsion is great too... V-1's and V-2's.

As long as you can tip the V-1's with your wingtip.

MC202 my grandfather was on the docks at Bari when the ships blew up.  He was buried under some rubble and two of his troops.  The one on top died, the one in the middle got real sick but lived, and my grandfather survived.  The mustard gas was Bad News.  There was a long delay in proper treatment because the presence of the gas on the ships was secret, and all those who knew about it were killed in the initial explosions.

actually as could be quite simply done in AH, just klike the panzer smoke round accept how would it har pilots, I thin just makeing it instant 'pilot wounded" would be cool, but how often would pilots fly through the gas??

I think the nuke could be implemented without messing anything up, like I said you wouldent see many dropped on bases because that would be a waste of a expensive bomb.  Use them on city's HQ's and other STRAT, to hit the enemy where it counts.

This was one of the BIG untold stories of WWII. Your grandfather was real lucky, the
effects of mustard gas can last 50+ years. Just saying "a lifetime" is too short.

I first read about it in:
DISTASTER AT BARI, by Glen Infield.

At one point there is an older German P.O.W. who is trying to get someone to listen to
him, as he remembered the smell from WWI. No one listened.

That event (Bari) could be used in the dictionary to define "clusterFu-k".

Be thankful you got to the time to know him, lots of people exposed to mustard gas "never
were the same".

Should we implemant the raping of women by invading armies and concentation camps too???? MC202 these were sure in the war, and had some impact, would you say? Nuclear weapons, poison gas, and this kind of crap should not EVER be included in AH, its simply in very bad taste- and would just cheapen the historic significance of the events in question. Dont go there HTC

And no im not making a direct comparison, so dont even bother!

Grunherz,

If you haven't noticed, the MA is not about historical accuracy, just planes from WWII.  Boy, you're excitable, aren't you

I had written a long response, but instead;

.............BIG SNIP..............

As to the use of Tallboys on B-29's, darn if I know if they were used, but they were planed for.

The B-32 could be fun instead of the B-29. Ten .50s in five turrets, 20,000lb. bomb
load. 365mph, 35,000 ft at normal full load, max range 3,200 miles at max fuel, 800 miles
at max bomb load.
