1087 New Problems
« on: January 26, 2002, 10:47:52 PM »
First, yes I have installed DirectX8.  Now, I can get into the game, and it takes me to the control tower.  A few seconds later, I get the blue screen of death saying "A fatal exception OE has occured at 0028:C16DB8EA in VXD Asp4Wave(10) + 0001455A.  The current application will be terminated."

I have tried re-dl'ing the full 1087, and uninstalled the orginal version and installed from the new DL.  I also have the most current driver for my vidcard.  Any help appreciated.

System:
P2 450
128MB RAM
64MB Voodoo5 5500

The wave thingy sounds like a sound file..? Maybe redo Sound Card Drivers Bazi?

edit. Did a find on a vxd file. I found ONE. Its a reqistry entry for my norton works. Perhaps you have a registry entry that has been corrupted w/in the game or something else?

when you uninstalled did you shutdown PC the boot it back up then reinstall..shutdown and reboot again? Might not make a diff...but for an uninstall to work, especialy in your reg (IF it has ANYTHING to do w/that) rebooting is a sound idea.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Hi Bazi,
Agree with Batdog here. What sound card do you have? Is it a "Turtle Beach Montego"? I had a friend who had this or something very similar after upgrading Windows from W98 First edition to W98 SE. Turned out to be his sound card drivers. In the end I think he replaced the card but did find a temporary fix by turning down "Hardware acceleration" a notch or 2.
