Author Topic: You can land on enemy runway but not 2 feet from your own?!! (Read 166 times)

Can anyone explain to me why we get a ditch if we end up landing 2 feet away from the runway but still inside our own airfield yet you can land on a enemy runway and still get a "landing"

It's really anoying coming home from a 3 - 4 kill sortie, damaged and make it to the field, only 2 feet off the runway and get a ditch.

Each runway should have a 15 feet buffer zone on each side, if you end up in the buffer zone it should be still a landing.

im not sure why you get a successful landing if you land on an enemy airfield, but, the landing 2 feet off the runway and getting a ditch is part of encouraging people to actually land on the runway. if you had a buffer zone around the runway it would be too easy just to put your plane down without even trying to get it on the runway. HiTech has explained this before i believe.

So taxi back to the runway.
If your plane is too busted up to taxi, consider a "ditch" good enough. Even though you made it home, you most likely destroyed your AC. Not exactly a clean sortie if your plane is busted.
Landed, Ditched, it's really just semantics. Score-wise, a ditch is equal to a landing as far as K/D goes. Point-wise, you only lose out on 25% of your points earned for that sortie.

A ditch can very well be a belly landing, most planes that belly landed were quite easily fixed, only having dammage to props and scraped wings.

U can break your entire landing grear and wingtips while landing and stop just in the runaway (landing successful), but if u get out of gas two meters of the runaway with the plane intact, it is a ditch.

IMO, a ditch is a ditch if u damage the plane, no matter where u landed it. If u landed a undamaged plane in friendly territory, it is a successful landing. Obviously, landing between trees is a dangerous game

htc has said numerous times that this is in place to encourage actual landing on a runway. Its for gameplay and works well.

Other games if you land or even drift off the runway while landing or taking off you lose your gear and in some cases die.

As for landing at an nme base its coded that way for now and it may be too much trouble to seperate who owns the runway. I wouldn't view at as a priority but I'm sure when they get free time you may get them to look at it.

HTC has to draw the line somewhere as to what constitutes a succesful landing from a ditching. Try and land on the right side of the line

As for succesful landing messages at enemy bases? It's a bug I wish was fixed too. But it's also irrelevant to where the line is drawn as to good or bad landings at a friendly base.
