Flight Journal article on F6F
« on: February 20, 2002, 12:11:36 AM »
I just picked up the latest issue of Flight Journal when I heard that it had an article on the Hellcat in it.  After reading the article I was greatly impressed with what Roy Grumman and Co. were able to pull off.... the landing gear were so tough they subjected the bird to a 21 foot free fall and the gear held!  Anywho I digress....

One of the photo captions mentions that the wing racks could hold either  250 lb bombs (one on each wing I asume) or the HVAR's.  Is this true? I don't recall seeing this in anything else I've read can anyone confirm it?

*disclaimer*  I am not suggesting that if it could carry it then we MUST have it here in AH because doing so I'm sure would bring loads of whines about certain "other" planes missing load out options ;) I am simply inquiring about the validity of the article.  I am quite happy with the loadout and ordenance options currently available for the F6F-5 allready.... though I certainly wouldn't complain about more being available.... :D
