Unusual Spots on Sights
« on: March 02, 2002, 12:02:33 AM »
I deleted the default gunsight, and added the 190 sight for my default, but it now looks like this...Any ideas how I can change it? I downloaded these files from the HTC site.... How can I fix this?

delete the pixels that actually reach the outer edge.

I use that same sight.

You only need to delete the few pixels that reach the edge. Before sure to "fill in" the deleted pixels with the background color.

That sight was created before 1.08 when we got the current set up.

don't erase too many,, otherwise the sight shrinks.

It's not really possible for me to delete the pixels, IMO, because on the original template, the spots are not visible. The spots only appear after I change the gunsight. on the actual plane.

In photoshop or other art programs the gunsight looks normal.

You do NOT delete the pixels, just paint over them the same color as the background of the original bmp.

That's the problem I am having though. When I open the gunsight diagram using a paint shop or other imaging software, there is nothing to paint over, because the gunsight looks exactly as it should.

These flawed image only appears when I am sitting in the gun position.

Delete the pixels at the edge I circled with black, and your problem should go away.  If you notice, there are no anomalies on the left side of your site and you can see a small gap at the edge.

It will work Gainsie +)

My advice:

Make sure that the gunsight bmp image is ALWAYS 2^n
errm  64x64, 128x128, 256x256

to prevent these probs in the future make sure the background pink is 1 pixel wider than the sight itself

With that knowledge you can just build from scratch +)
Just use the ready made sights to pick your colours from.

Thanks, it worked!

I needed to have the image squared out. I changed the size and didnt realize it.

FYI...the image will be streched to fit the size of the gunsight. It's a little smaller now, but I'l get used to it.

Thanks for the help fellas !
