Heh.. if the Ju88 is really thay impossible to shoot down..

How many Spits and Hurris would be needed to shoot down all those 88s in the pic?? :D

 ...

Seriously though, on snafu's question ("Were early guns really that bad?"), I think current tendencies in BoB CT sort of points out nicely the guns are about fine, rather, the 20mms (not just Hispanos, but all the 20mms!) are too powerful.

As someone said, the fights are epic in BoB CT :).. about the most epic fights I've ever seen in ages.. no 3~4 pings blowing off wings suddenly.... "Spitdweebs" actually getting in close 200~300 yards and aiming( :D arrogant joke, sorry.. no bad intent).. Landing pings after pings, enemy planes swerving like mad.... following a good chase and finally seeing something blown off and the plane crashing down.. whew, it was one of the good, rewarding fights.

Also feels kinda peculiar seeing people complain about what the MA folk have been complaining about for ages - namely, the "buff guns too strong!" issues. Who'd ever have guessed Ju88s would be in the middle of all this? :D I guess people never expected they had to kill Ju88s as they would have when met a B-17.. well, 1940 bombers against 1940 fighters. What else? Can't exactly expect to kill a 1940 bomber as you would with 1942+ planes with destructive 20mms, eh? The Ju88 Hazed killed was me, and he blew me up, too. Boy, does he know where Ju88 has weak spots!

Anyhow, planning to post some links to good film clips made out of BoBCT, as soon as I have my new server running. :D

 Great set up!

That really is too bad about the whining.  Dont see it much in there.  Ju88s are tough birds for the hurries and spits.  The real problem is there level speed!  I think it is well modeled though.  We should be able to pop em out of the sky too easily.   I have filled a couple of em full of lead, and still have not seen a kill message for one of em.  GOnna get me one someday, just you darn lwers keep escorting the dam things!  Knock it off!

hehe

I have killed 4 ju88s they aint hard.......

theres no snapshots with 303s.

The ones I've killed took good burst but died no harder then anything else. I killed 2 in 1 sortie and light up a third that killed me because I dopped into his 6 at d300 and stayed there a bit too long.

303s are a capable round in this setup. I never fly allied planes and am like 20 and 3 in them in the ct.

I even escorted DDs ju88s and got a few kills.

Those that say a ju88 is too tough fly axis and get sprayed with 50 cals from a tbm :)

then you may have something to whine about.

Anyway I love attacking and escorting ju88s in the ct. Its quite fun.....

Flew Ju-88 yesterday was great fun although I didn't make it to the target (radar stationj/factory). I was hijacked by higher Spitfire and I tellyou those .303s do really bite... He got my left gun, left flap and left engine coolant at first pass. But then he just moved over to my 6 so he died. Then I jetisoned my load and turned back home to France crying on country channel for help because 2 more dots were coming. Had to fight 2nd spit alone too... Managed to get him because he was not very smart... The 3rd one was smart... He atacked from sides and from my blind angles... Luckyly for me 2 Emils arrived just in time to get me rid of this burden so i rtbed relatively safely :D
So yes Ju-88s are harder to kill with .303s but same as in MA it all depends on your approach and tactics used and especially with Ju-88s blind angles if Allied pilots are smart then unescorted Ju-88s have little or no chance for survival... And Yes the TBM's .50 cals are devastating in current arena setup :)

My vote: keep CT as it is now longer! I really enjoy it

"Were early guns really that bad?"

Guys..... It was a rhetorical question, and a compliment to the setup.

As with most engagements the JU was firing back at me with about the same effect as I appeared to be having on him. After switching to Axis to help the numbers I found out many times the damage 303's can do.

Read the title of the thread..

Good thread Swagger!
It was indeed a blast, best JU-88 sortie I've had in ages.
The sortie following we took 110's to England, hit a radar factory hard, killed a couple of spits with some goodteamwork. Tried to run for home but we got ambushed by high cons. At least half if not all of us died with the shores of france in sight.

IMO HT could just as well replace the dueling arena with a permanent BOB setup if it was setup like this with a better map perhaps.

An accurate map of europe is not good enough?  Do you mean more towns and such?  I would be all for it, but sadly it would subtract from the already meager ct crowd.
