Sorry guys, I'm not at home and dont have my books handy. Can someone tell me if the p-38M saw action in ww2.

If you can enlighten me, how much different was it from the L?

sorry silo p-38L was the last of the breed to see action.

but used right its a great ride even against all the late war monsters in the ma

hell i have over 560 kills for 80 some deaths in the p-38L so it can't be as terribly modelled and hopelessly outclassed as I like to pretend it is.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Thx for responding guys, but i am a retard
I was thinking of the F-5E or somthing like that. (reconnasance version of the 38L)

I was flipping through an aircraft markings book in Barnes and Noble and came across what seemed to be a P-38 with CAF markings (like the Flying Tigers) and really cool camo. I was thinking perhaps the next version (if there is one) of the 38... 38J??... could sport CAF camo schemes for an awesome CBI theatre once p-40b arrives

There was a version of the P38 with a green house nose and norden bomb site!  Thats what I want instead of an old mosquito.

Hum. Isn't the P-38M the Pathfinder/Night Fighter variant?

The P-38M was developed as a night fighter.  It had an AN/APS-4 AI radar pod under its nose and was painted gloss black.  The war ended before the M's saw any action.

The Droop Snoot conversion kit converted a P-38J to a level bomber by replacing the armament in the nose with a bombardier compartment - complete with a Norden bombsight.  The AAF ordered 100 Droop Snoot conversion kits, although its not known how many P-38J's were actually converted.

The Droop Snoot did see action.  The first mission was by the 20th Fighter Group on April 10, 1944 against Gutersloh, Germany.
