Hi guys

I've been running Win 98 pretty successfully but I'm considering XP as my new OS. So, just how good is XP? I am using the Saitek SGE and I believe there are some problems with that (but a non-official SGE rectifies it I believe?). What other problems/conflicts are known with XP?

One last question, can XP be safely installed over Win 98 or should it be on a reformatted drive?

reformat best way to go

saitek recently released XP drivers not sure if they include SGE or not.
I love XP, not one blue screen since i installed it b4 xmas

Yes I agree with SKurj. With the windows operating systems no matter which one you are using you do not want to do a "dirty" install. Which is reinstalling it over the top of its self. You will cause your self many headaches if you do this. As for windows XP we have many people here that run the OS and have no issues.

Yes, format the drive before installing XP. Also, immediately go to the MS update site and get the latest fixes. There are many.

Many of us are running Dahxxxxx drivers and hazardscript for the x36/45 Saitek...... works great.... also when changing systems or any new install you don't have to go back and reprogram in AH.... works great, would recommend over Saitek drivers.....

Surely you jest...

Imagine the highways if Chrysler,Ford, Chevy or any carmaker put out products like MicroShaft does.
Although there would be an upside to that... we wouldn't be dependant on foreign oil.

Thanks for all the help, XP works like a dream! I'm very impressed, though haven't sussed out how to disable the annoying pop up messages yet!!

One other thing and I know you've mentioned the hazardscript for the Saitek X-36 but I downloaded the new Saitek SST or whatever it's called (replaced SGE). Anyway, it now works using .dat files instead of the old profile .psi files. I remember reading somewhere, and indeed it might be on the 'Ron Hunts' simhq site that there is a program that will convert the .psi file to the new .dat file. Does anyone know which of the many programmes on simhq site it is that does the conversion?
