Damnit you are supposed to play along. :)

Something like "Wulfie the key is this if you are being chased by 30 enemy and a friendly tells you to drag then immediately split-s towards the friendly and begin turning in as tight a circle as possible."

===

Remember the night at GJs house where we were all drinking, and seeing how good a streak the 3 of us could put together taking turns in the WB MA in the P-39D?

And how the more you and I drank the better we were getting and GJ kept getting toasted for some unknown reason?

He was looking at you and my like the state trooper was looking at Venus Flytrap and Johnny Fever in that WKRP episode where they were taking the 'driving reaction time effects of drinking alcohol' test. :)

I keep having to cancel my damn AH account because every few weeks I have to split to another place for an unknown period of time for work. When I get home I'll get a permanent account for at least 6 months I think.

I'll email you when I get access to a computer (again) that can run AH and a decent joystick.

Mike/wulfie

p.s. RC - redheads rock. :)

Drex,

I have sent you a private email, and would like to take you up on this offer.

I've been back in AH for a few months now (tried it in 1999 but didn't like it then) and I would give the following tips to former WB pilots. Would you agree with my list?
  • Do not rely on 190s not being able to turn. In AH, they can turn much better than in WB. So if you've got one behind you, it's bad news.
  • Be aware of the enormous E retention of some of the 109s. I think it's the G10 that's the really dangerous one. I don't fly them much because I like being able to adjust my aim at and above 400mph.
  • Be careful around Spits and LA7s. The LA7 can be dealt with in a B&Z, otherwise best left alone!
  • Understand the N1K, the people who fly it, why they fly it, and then treat them with the contempt they deserve :D
  • The effective range of AH weaponry is much greater than in WB, and kills can be had at 1000 yards even when firing upwards. Hitech once got me firing vertically upwards at 600+ yards!
  • Lots of new players here, so don't expect 6-calls as you would in WB. But that seems to be changing :)
  • For the same reason, in a merge, MOST pilots you encounter will try for the HO, and MANY will then flat turn behind you as you go vertical - lunch time! :D
  • Try to understand the radar. In some circumstances, it shows friends but does NOT show the presence of enemies! Still trying to figure that out. Could understand if it showed neither, or both...
  • Finally, do not despair if you see something that's not quite right in AH. Bring it to the attention of HTC. The quality of programming effort, maintenance and customer care is FAR in excess of what you are used to. You wont get the Royal brush-off in here.

Sorry if I step in beet1e, but:

a) FW190s in AH dont turn well, they *seem* to turn well when they have the right speed, enuff speed that is. Engage a 190A5 in a dogfight at 350-400mph+ TAS and he will remain on your tail; I like it, it is what I have read in many reports.

b) Bf109Gs dont have a good E-retention in AH; however they have a very good sustained climb rate. Take the 109G-10, for example. When you see a G-10 climb-turning above you its not due only to its E-retention rather to its incredible pure climb performance.

Only my two €. Regards.

poopie... believe what you want about AH but I will tell you that getting behind drex from a superior e state and with a superior AC is nothing more than the first step in getting yourself shot down.   I do  not believe that anyone who tries it will ever get spout off about there being no "fight" or acm to AH again.

While he is the best at this he is by no means the only one in AH who can do this.   With practice, so can a lot more.

there are 2 types of dar local (base radar dish) and global (HQ radar dish arrays).

by killing local base radar dish, all local dots go poofy for that sides planes in the area - if you still have your HQ up 100%, you'll still see all dar bars and friendly dots in the sector, unless local radar loss also loses freindly dots.

by attacking HQ, depending on the severity of the damage done you will progessively lose global radar functions - enemy dots first, followed by friendly dots, followed by enemy dar bar followed by friendly darbar (at which point your dar is totally blind globally).

Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

Thanks Dr Drex!   Fantastic advice.

I was doing great and I think I may have found the one for me. One major and unexpected problem arose though.

How do I get rid of her mother so I can have some quality time with my new love slave?

I especially like the part where he screams like a little girl when you dive on his six.  He's very, very good at that.  :)

lol RC

You have stumped me.

On a serious note.  I have recieved a bunch of emails from WB guys(Damn good to hear from you).  I'll be putting a mailing list together, and shooting off some thoughts and schedules tomorrow when I find out how mine is looking.  Wife is on her last week of finals in her first year of law school, so she is making me do everything as she freaks out.

Thulin type D (RC-33SW)
Donated by the Swedish count von Rosen, it became the first aircraft  in the Finnish Airforce in 1917.
