Stern stages boxing match
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Don King, watch out: The self-proclaimed King of All Media is now a boxing impresario.
Syndicated radio host Howard Stern staged his "Brawl at the Taj Mahal" on Friday, pitting show regulars "Stuttering John" Melendez and Crazy Cabbie in a five-round amateur fight that drew a boozy, sellout crowd of more than 4,000 people, at $100 a ticket.
It had all the trappings of a real fight: King, Donald Trump and Evander Holyfield were among the big names ringside, and tuxedo-clad ring announcer Michael Buffer delivered his famous "Let's get ready to rumble" introduction.
It had Stern touches, too, including a midget dressed like King and a Siamese twin who sang the National Anthem.
The scrappy 5-foot-8-inch, 175-pound Melendez -- the crowd favorite -- dominated the 6-2, 262-pound Cabbie from the start, winning a unanimous decision.
Afterward, Cabbie claimed victory and said he wants a rematch
