was reading a reply (from OWesty) to hblair's post about the new CT setup. It made me think about how many people really do read these boards, after that, how many actually dig through all of the mumbo jumbo to get the good stuff. Stuff such as announcements about Arenas, TOD, events, etc etc. We all know that the "NEWS" forum is watched with a keen eye for any updates. It seems there is only a handful of users who actually go through each forum on our boards here.

My point: What about an opt-in newsletter/announcements email that our users can register for. OR better yet, having it as an option when users sign up for accounts at AH. This letter would be open for all CMs (or at least "Head CM's" if there are such a thing) to send out a letter when events are happening or Arenas go through major changes. I think it could be done very simply, and if only a few chosen CMs were selected to run it, it would be out of the way for HTC. (don't want to add any more load than what's already there for ya  ;) ).

anyhow, just a thought/idea.....please post ideas and thoughts.

I'd rather come here to find it than have it clog up my mail box.

If they don't come here to read, it's probably because they don't care to know.

I think it would be better if users here would use the organization that is set up.
Posting under the correct header will help the the person in a hurry to find the info they need, rather than having to fumble through the "General Discussions" to see if there is anything about what they want to know.
(This goes back to Pyro's post about this BBS)
I don't like this particular forum because if you miss a day, then good info might be burried beneath 40 new topics. Many of which should be under Gameplay, Bugs, Help/Training, or even the O'Club.

Board?
You mean one that shows news whether you like it or not?

Perhaps just a Button to click that brings up that nice window that HTC uses to indicate server changes etc. That way it does tie up the band width with more activity.

Jordi's already started an Events email/newsletter, and it's working well.

However, ít would be great to have the possibility to view the MOTD text with a key press, even perhaps in flight. Perhaps a button on the clipboard?

That way the MOTD could contain more information, and that information could be reviewed at will.

If you'll note, Mason said "opt-in". That means you can choose to have the info pushed to you.

Great idea mason. Maybe have a checkbox when ya open an account and let the customer choose whether or not to recieve news about the game, updates, etc. Of course if they're like me they'll automatically choose no to everything except the "Gimme cool plane game software" button.  :)

"Perhaps just a Button to click"

AirWarrior had a feature like this; you could push a button to bring up a screen with arena settings, some links, and recent news.   I think it was fairly successful.

I think a personal visit from a HTC staff member would be the best form of communicating news.   :D

I've gotten email that was literally worthless spam from iEN, Playnet, EA/Gamestorm and a several others over the past several years. The reason I say it was worthless was it very rarely had anything to do with the game I actually subscribed to. I could give a rats bellybutton (no pun intended) on Bop the Bunny, Mangle the Monkey or Peachy Pokino games.

I'd eagerly accept email from HTC letting me know about updates, changes or anything news worthy about AH. And yes I'd definately say make it an option to recieve it. Perhaps add an "AH NEWS" check off box on the sign-up page for the newbies and for everyone else they could add a "remove me from your email list" link. That way most folks who would choose not to recieve it can take care of that with the very first addition. At least anything from HTC would be related to what we subscribe to them for.

Second thought, I like discod's Idea.

Ok, putz flies out to fatty's and masons

Smiley visits kieran and swoop

Superfly and natedog get the rest of you.

And of course Ronni and Yankee visit me to tell me the new news personally.

I like this plan.
