Zeb are they aware that the Cougar axis curves are forcing a dead zone whether you set it to zero in the CCP or not ?

I have not noticed that myself.  Can you give me more details and an example I can try.

Yea if you have not already seen this thread, http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55453

Try the Ostwind test i describe with your setup of choice then mine, everybody who has tried it so far agrees it works much better and smoother for control around the breakpoint with Curves and dead zones at zero in CCP and using the AH option to control joystick response.

Probably a better test would be to look at the values produced by the joystick analyser built into Foxy.  I am getting strange results around the daed centre of the axis, but I am not sure if it's the deadband setting or play in the stick.  I will try a few more tests.

In fact checking in the joystick analyser with deadband set at zero for the X and Y axis and a curve setting ov around -5 I get changes of readings as soon as the stick moves away from centre.  This suggests no deadband.

Can you try the same experiment.

SlapShot-I D/L your profile but stange-the throttle works in reverse:confused:
Also why does a left bracket repeats in the radio buffer at
times:eek:
I like your application of views, wouldn't be nice if one
could move Hat button #1 to Hat button#3:)
What I mean is the actual physical button:eek:
Any new profile for guys like me to D/L, been in this
game since AW & Confirmed Kill.
Have a great day:)

You can, and some people have done just that.  I think I have seen details in this forum somewhere...

SlapShot, I replaced your throttle with a new command:
THR 5 1 (97 100) (/P WEP /R WEP)
It is working fine, wep & all.
You still have a good profile.
Thanks Ed

Scream, does this throttle set up make it so that WEP engages when you push the throttle past the second detent?  Also, how did you decide the "97 100" values?  Thanks.

Me again Zeb. Sorry about this, it's something to do with being Scottish!:D

What I mean by "overwrite" is, if you map a button or a stick slider in AH, does the Cougar profile over-rule the AH setting or does the AH setting take precedence?

Can you eg map your sensitivities in AH and have SOME buttons mapped in Cougar and some not. IE most buttons mapped in AH but rotaries mapped to trim via Cougar?
Or must you have EITHER AH mapping OR Cougar mapping?

I will try and explain a bit better :).

The Cougar can emulate any any of the eight available stick axis that are available, plus a couple more. But thats another story.
Those 8 analogue axis can be assigned to any rotary or stick or even button on the Cougar.  How you allocate those axis in AH is up to you.  Same goes with the buttons.  If I make one of the buttons go to bombsight then open doors and select a default zoom view.  Then that is 4 separate key presses F8, O, Z and somthing else I seem to recall.  Now if you have mapped those functions to some other keys in AH then it wont work the same.  You would either have to map them the same as mine or change the Cougar temp[late to match.

Make any more sense?

Zeb i tried the Joystick analyser and you are correct it does register all movement.
But the CCP curves option still sucks when used with AH for fine control at the breakpoint, it definitely gives you an unwanted dead zone.
However i will agree its not necesarily a CCP problem and could just be how it interacts with AH's joystick controls.

I presume this is because the curve control in AH is done with separate sliders along the length of the axis.  I don't think this technique would be easy to duplicate in the Cougar.  It would be in the CCP I think but not in the programming side where it matters.  If you are not doing any axis curve mods on the fly then you may as well stick to AH's stick settings.
