If its an engine torgue effect as you alter your rpm the effect will also alter, but usually torque seems to induce roll.
Pongo and i believe Mathman posted above they have a calibration issue, cant comment as I am not suffering that.
I am pleased this info has helped others and of course myself achieve fine control at the break point especially after some of the posts On Cougar world and here suggesting control problems are in fact a user problem because we must be too weak to control the stick :D
Unfortunately it seems the CCP side of the cougar software really does suck because its this alone that causes lack of controllability at and near the breakpoint, disabling the curve and dead spot adjustments in CCP and set these using the in game software makes a world of difference, I just wonder how many other games could benefit from this.
To any doubters with a Cougar do yourself a favour and at least try the Ostwind test posted above, you may get a surprise and find you do in fact suffer this same problem, if so the cure is posted above.

How does one go about decreasing tension on the Cougar?

Are you guys who are having calibration problems calibrating your Cougar inside of AH as well?

I use auto-calibration, and every time I enter AH I go to setup and calibrate my Cougar and CH Pro Pedals in there, holding each axis for around 3 seconds. I haven't had any calibration problems in using this routine. It may be overkill, but it works.

Cav, I tried your axis setup and I have to admit that it also improved my smoothness.

WTG and thanks!

Cav I will try thr setup you describe the next time I am able to get home and play around the settings. Thanks for the ideas there even though I have not had any issues with the stick and my being able to control it.

Glad it helped banana.

Reschke, it really does help with controllability near the breakpoint if in any doubt try the test with an Ostwind i described above, before and after.

I can only encourage anybody with a Cougar to try this as you may never realise how much better it could be unless you try.

I did as you advised 2 weeks ago but it didn't helped me much.

I have a no-tension zone around the breakpoint where I have accurate control. However, when the stick travels farther (on any axis), I have to overcome a sudden increase in tension. Then the tension builds linearily to the axis stops.

I own the Cougar since a little more than 2 months, but I'm still not used to this acute step in tension. Even when I try to cross it as smoothly and carefully as possible, the plane nose bounces a bit.

In offline mode, I have trouble to hit ammo bunkers and fuel tanks.....

I thought that maybe my Cougar had a flaw, but TM support told me that this was normal. I would like to be able to test another Cougar, just to be sure it isn't a problem in mine.
