So… How broke is your state?
« on: June 12, 2002, 11:10:28 AM »
Was looking through the finances today and ran across something quiet peculiar.  Seems I had someone do a stop pay on a check in which my credit union charged me a few bucks for.  I sick’d the wife on it, she works at the bank, to find out what was up.

My state of Missouri, $6 check, had a stop payment on it.  I have yet to see, as well as many others, the rest of 2001’s tax refund.  They don’t even have a date as to when they might be able to send it out.

By the way, did I mention our illustrious new governor Holden likes to spend money?  His inaugural ball was 3 times as expensive compared to any other held by a new governor.  Man do I just love democrats!

Pretty damn. Tennessee's projected deficit for upcoming year: $1.3 billion. That's out of a total budget of $9.5 billion.

Here in Illinois we have the worst Republican governor ever seen.  He lied his bellybutton off getting in to office and proceded to start levying taxes and extra fees against everything he could think of under the auspices of the "Illinois First" program to build schools and roads (which wasn't even necessary).  Now the budget is coming up short again (they are spending like madmen) and they are trying to get more taxes in.  The latest is a 40 cent tax on a pack of cigarettes.  Now the elections are coming up and the two candidates are just as bad.  The Republican is corrupt and the Democrat is advertisng that he is in fact not that different from the Republican.

Ryan a crook? Why he's just a knidly old grandad. Yeah, we have a "tax and spend" republican gov. here in ILL. $90 plate fees. Good if your an approved contractor though :) He did just use his veto to shave $500mil though I believe.

My advice...move to a tax haven and have your kids born there.  It is the best tax planning you can do for them and for you.

;)

LOL – I’ll take that under consideration.

As for the “Lincoln bedroom”.  Well, I live in Missouri man!  We might have the Pendergass Barn or something like that.

I think the best thing about my state is the fact they are still trying to figure out how much money they want to give both stadium complex’s in KC and St. Louis.  I don’t know about St. Louis but there doesn’t seem to be much wrong with Arrow Head and trying to move the baseball stadium down town, especially after the millions they just put into it, is gay.

Suck thing is my income tax refund won’t start earning interest until August I believe.  I’m sure they’ll try and find a way by then to get them out.

While we have plenty of incompetency to go around, Governor Sundquist is in his second term. He ran for re-election denying there was a budget problem and within 6 months of re-election was pushing for a state income tax (which we don't currently have.). BTW, Gore was never in state politics.

HAH! Here in florida we're sneaky.

Texas paid off our deficit, in return we screwed the elections.
