If the point of the game is just to steal and slaughter, then it is not a game I could enjoy. With any game it is personal preference.
From my perspective, that isn't the point at all - the interesting thing about the game is it is open enough that for someone THAT could be the point. However, as I see it, the point is different (albiet criminal).
And I completely agree with you that everything is a case of personal preference. e.g. All those real time 'strategy' games without any strategy that sell like hotcakes hold less than 0 interest for me.
