A big resounding F.U.! to Al Gore

Silly hypocrite thinks that people are so stupid enough to think that all this happened in a short  year and a half.   Sad part is that many will believe him with out even thinking about how long crap like this takes to happen.  It would not suprise me if 1/2 or more of the major corporations in this country end up like Enron/MCI  due to 8 years of "look the other wayism"   Of course it's all G.W.'s fault though.

Of course it is Dubya's fault.  Don't you know he personally did the accounting for both Enron and Worldcom?

A little Off topic but...

If a drug dealer gets busted, all his assets are taken away from him and resold or auctioned off and he goes to jail. Some of it goes to the local government, and some to charities.

If a company exec, or group of company execs, lie, steal, and cheat their way to making billions of dollars off of American citizens that don't know wtf is going on behind the scenes and they get caught... they might go to jail, if they do, when they get out, they still have all that nice money they stole from the American people waiting for them in their bank. If they don't go to jail, they still have all that money.

No laws against scandalous executives/companies making money off of unsuspecting citizens who just want some electricity to turn on their microwave and keep their beer cool.

I don't care who's fault it is, they (big brother) need to get their heads f'in screwed on right and pay attention to the corporate world.

"You see now what it means to have an administration that's that committed to fighting and working on behalf of the powerful, and letting the people of this country get the short end of the stick,"

Sure, the guy who catches the crooks is to blame for the crime - not the one that allowed him to operate unimpeded. That's the new "Goron" logic. :)

Couldn't agree more!  But you know I think I remember a story a couple of years ago about 2 drug dealers in Ca..  They got busted in the late 80's and the government took their money, homes, boats and sent them to prison.  They sued and I believe they were released from prison because the judge said it was double jeapardy (ie. they were being punished more than once for the same crime).  Do we have a mechanism in place now to take money from corrupt execs and give it to the shareholders?  There should be but if you take the execs personal money how can we send them to jail too?

Something needs to be done for sure, but im scared that this is just the tip of the iceburg.  Imagine if 1/2 of all US companies have done this.  This could be VERY bad for our economy/stock market.  But I guess that makes Al Gore happy because now he thinks he has a stick to beat bush with, only the stick he's using is one that he and clinton planted over 8 years ago.  The decade of denial is over, it may be time to pay the piper soon :(

SWulf I'd absolutely love to see in addition to jail time, assets of those involved siezed ala RICO and auctioned to pay creditors.

Look at the situation...

Gore is slipping among the Democrats. Meanwhile, approval ratings for Bush regarding economic issues are slipping.

So, what's a politician to do? It's obvious. Gore attempts to shore up his declining political stock by attacking Bush where he can score points.

Typical political maneuvering.

?????????

are you implying that you thing Bush caught the guys at enron?  nobody caught them.  they ran their scam right up until their house of cards colapsed and there was no way to hide it further.

I suspect that the only connections between bush and enron are that they are both from texas and enron colapsed during his administration. but I damn sure wouldn't give him credit for catching anybody.

nobody found out anything in time to save any victims from being ripped off, and last time i checked the crooks where still spending the money

And gore, the ultimate doofus will get attacked for it.  The guy hasn't got the brains of a box of rocks and every time he opens his cake-hole he proves it.

Right, but you watch how many people will blame Bush for all of this when he had absolutely nothing to do with it other than being the guy in office when the house of cards fell.  Typical liberal roadkill.  Blame the right for the problems that the left causes.  Don't forget who's watch it was while all the illegal activity was going on.

 Sandman,
Your right too :D  but then I wouldn't expect much diferent from the parasites we have in D.C.  Still pisses me off when I see blantant hypocracy like the kind that spews forth from Gore's mouth when ever he speaks.

No, of course not - I mean I do not think so really.
My reply was an absurd reply to Gore's even more absurd statement.
At least theoretically speaking (based on what we know about time and cause-effect ) there is a possibility that Bush could have cought those guys upon becoming a president - if he, say, was not distracted from economical matters by all that 9/11 business.
It is not possible that his becoming president caused them to become crooks years before that event - unless he invented a time machine. :)

Disagree with you here. If those crooks continued to operate, people would still be pouring money into their stock - which would end up in execitives' pockets through options, incentives, etc.
Catching a murderer never helps victims that are already dead. It helps people not to become victims.

Kurt Tank invented a rudimentary time machine, but it never got past the prototype stage as it only made his test subjects reverse in age rather than travel in time.

Al Gore found Kurt Tank's schematics and wanted to improve on the machine. He began work on it, and was about to get a patent on it (called the "Way Back Machine").. but then a new idea erupted in his mind which would force him to put his "Way Back Machine" on hold... and this new invention is none other than the internet!

I get tired of hearing that bush inherited the Enron problem from Clinton, that it's all cCintons fault and bush is inocent and being used as a fall guy.

You can’t hold Clinton any more to blame for this than bush.

Bush was the pres. for almost a year while this was going on (what 10, 11 months? I've never heard exactly when it started.) he never figured it out either.

Why is it Clinton fault that he didn't know, but ok that bush didn't know?

Gore is acting like a dick for blaming bush for a crime committed while he was president.

But to say that the democrats are responsible is no better.

As a matter of fact I'd be willing to bet money that if you where to check voter records for party affiliation. You would find that the majority (if not all) of the perpetrators at Enron where republicans.
