Hitech what exactly does this mean?
« on: June 30, 2002, 03:58:41 PM »
1. Removed victory messages after kills, you and the person you shot down still get the same message.
Victory messages now only appear after a successful landing with at least 2 kills.

Basically if I kill a guy do just the two of us get the old kill message right away?

Please explain this change a bit more, I find it confusing a bit. :)

It means if you shoot someone down only you and the guy you shot down will see the victory message.  Only time the rest of the arena will see your victory message is if you successfully land your plane with more than 2 kills.  Easy enough to understand or do I have to type slower?

Lol ammo, now even I do NOT understand. It was clear after HT post, became little more vague after akas answer, after your sllloooowwww exxxxppppllaaaannnaattttiooon nn it turned into a mess.

So, when I kill someone, he is back to tower, and gets two kills on me... Wait, when I kill someone, my beer turns from cold into warm and spoils my day, sheeps stop to love me, and HTC win AH spelling contest...

No, sorry it is too difficult for me. :)

heehee, sorry:)

I *think* it means this--

Say you go up for a sortie and get several kills, 4 for the sake of discussion.  Only you see the messages when you make the kills, well and the guy you killed. But when you land and exit your AC, I think a message is displayed for the arena that tells how many kills you had for that sortie. If it is only a one kill sortie, then no message for the arena.

We will see monday, right:D?

Yes...but it also means there will be less acknolegement of good pilots, and no way to give "WAY TO GO" messages to squadmates.

I can understand the reasoning, but I also fear the "Kill macro" that many dweebs that need "to compensate for something", and want the world to know they got a kill.  Im on the fence on this right now, but I do feel the game will lose something.  In either case I am confindent HT will make any needed adjustments.  Its one of the few companies I actually feel "THINKS" about decisions before implimenting them...as oppsed to the standard "lets try this and if it sucks....we can change it"

That is excellent news.  Now in the next version, please include a host option for no kill messages at all.  This would be very good for historical events.  It would allow for multi-frame events in which each side is not certain of the other side`s losses.  Great fog of war and limited intel potential.  Sides would then have to rely purely on AARs for intel estimates.

Heh....newbie.  :D  We already do this for the TODs.  At least all the ones that I have set up and/or flown in.

aww too bad we wont be able to gawk at the buffer during vulchfests and camping :D

Victory 35 by Octavius.

If someone has a good sortie and gets say, 15 kills... once they land successfully, will the text buffer explode with 15 lines?

Victory 1 by Octavius
Victory 2 by Octavius
Victory 3 by Octavius
...
Victory 13 by Octavius
Victory 14 by Octavius
Victory 15 by Octavius
etc...

That would be quite annoying :)  especially if someone's popping the millions of PTs after the sinking of a carrier.  Can you say text lag?
