Friday TOD info
« on: July 07, 2002, 01:29:07 AM »
Raxx has uploaded the terrain for the Slot.  It needs to be tested before being sent to HTC for "blessing" and official building.  Everyone give Raxx a big !  :)

In any event, we're running early Pacific for the next TOD.  If the terrain isn't blessed, we'll have "what if" time in the Philippines until the terrain is official. (I had kinda thought about it, and then Sabre mentioned it separately, so I figured why not?  :D)

What I need from you guys is this...

Squad COs.
1. I need you to update your frame commitments.  Here's the URL since it's not a direct link from HTC's website anymore.
http://events.simladder.com/tod_squaddossier.php

2. I need your side preference.  IJN or USN (plane list below).

3. Given we're gonna have a real short turnaround on orders for Frame 1, I need volunteers for Frame 1 CO that are 100% sure they can take objectives and have orders out to squad COs fast.

What I need from everyone is your opinion on something...  We have no Japanese torpedo strike aircraft (no Kate or Jill.)  We don't have the TBD Devastator for the USN either.  We do have the TBM-3 Avenger.  Basically the choice is this:
A.  Both sides get the TBM-3.
B.  Neither side gets the TBM-3.

I'm leaning towards A.  The substitution sucks, but it's really better than only dive bombers.  However, if most of you would get turned off by it, I'd rather leave them out!

IJN - A6M2, D3A1, (TBM-3)
USN - F4F-4, SBD-5, P-40E, (TBM-3)

ok, that about does it.  Make sure your squad CO knows about this thread.  I'll need side preferences (and Frame 1 CO volunteers) by Tuesday morning (USA morning.)  Frame COs will have objectives that afternoon/evening in all likelihood.  They in turn will need to have orders emailed to the squads the next afternoon/evening.  The "usual" writeup will come when I post sides.  :)

Sounds Great Nifty!

I vote yes to TBM for both sides. Ya just gotta have torpedo bombers! I also think that CV gunners should be locked out.
They are just too damm accurate.

Cant wait for this one, long overdue IMHO.

It goes without saying that CV gunners should be locked out as a matter of course for any scenario.

But yeah, it looks really cool,a nd I reckon you have to have slow torpedo planes.

USN F4F for us. We will take whatever you need though, as always.

Can commit 4-6 for this TOD.

I vote for no TBM for either side.  Go with Dive bombers this time. That or a small number of TBMs for the USN and a number of Ki-67 for the IJAAF.

Cheers.

I hate substitutions, but will go either way since both sides need to be watching "high and low".

Mongrels were Axis last time so we request Allied, but as always will go where needed.

Also unless you get two Frame C.O.'s today I would just assign them as you usually do and send out the objectives asap.

my two cents. ;)

If it is possible, would like to have Allied since we were axis the last two tours.

TBM's fine with me for both sides.

Marine Air Wing requests allied. Why not use the ki67 for jap torp plane? It does carry a torp dont it? So its too fast make them load 100% fuel should offset speed a bit.
