Just wondering...?

This has been very very interesting for me folks; thank you to all who have taken part in this thread thus far! Good point on getting the gen from the CMs.

CMs; I don't know how you organise things but any chance that the directives for a frame can be sent on Mondays giving us more time to plan (prelim plan get responses then finalise)?

As for busy lives etc.. aye I understand that... :-} But again this is a case of me learning the local ways.  S3s were flown  5 frames over 6 weeks (and 3 hours per frame at that) and we had time to get prelim orders and replies sorted... (shrugs)... - as I remarked to Bikekil I do accept that I have a bit of adapting to do but I do hope to presuade some of you to lean more to my way of thinking too! :-)

As for bomber squads "winging it" - my experience in the S3s is that most bomber squads arent -or dont seem to be - capable of doing more than that. Ive flown alongside most of the other buff units in WB and speak from experience. The good ones CAN wing it and do at need but are all the better for being able to plan well.

Yeah, that's the spirit:

ultimately, you're right that the "culture" here isn't as serious as WB.  The only way we can change that is by leading by example.  When you issue orders, make them clear, and perhaps include at the end some of the "research results": route timings, best fuel consumption numbers, and so forth.

There are many people who believe a half-assed plan thrown together in a few hours is all that's needed, and anything more is superfluous.
An imperfect plan is better than no plan, but a good plan requires time and coordination, especially on offense.  The better we make our orders, the better the next person will make the next set.

I've already voiced my opinion concerning when rules should be finalized and COs sent the orders, and I think all sides would be happier if we let that dog lie. :D

The side CO determines the big picture, the unit COs the fine detail is all..

It doesn't work to just let them hash it out amongst themselves without establishing a chain of command first.  To avoid a clusterf___ there needs to be a strike lead in charge of planning and real-time leadership.  And who better to be the strike lead than the frame CO?
