109G series of AH, GM1/MW50
« on: July 12, 2002, 02:38:25 AM »
Ok, so I admit it, I'm a 109 o'phile...

I'm curious to know whether the 109G-2 of AH has GM-1 boost, and does the 109G-6 have an option for either GM-1 or MW50 boost?  If so, it would be the first sim I know of to model these things specifically...

If I recall our 109G6 doesn't have  MW50 since it's an early G6 no a late War G6/ASM.  The 109G2/G6 are identical except the G6 has MG131 cowling mounted machineguns. Both have GM1.

GM-1? Are you sure? Both G-2 and G-6 had seperate versions produced in parallel, G-1 and G-5 , which were the versions for high altitude with GM1.

a 109G-6 with the DB605ASM was a completely different aircraft, as it had the enlarged supercharger of the DB603.  The cowling had to be redesigned and so the bumps over the mg's were also lost; I think about 270 of these were produced.

A 109G-6 with mere MW50 would have a DB605AM.

Fats, you're right about the high altitude variants, though plenty of G2's and G6's were also outfitted with GM1.

Fats, what I meant to say is that in AH both the G2 and G6 are identical except for the  MG131s in the 109G6. Since I saw we had an Erla Haube  canopy I think this version is a late '43 G6 not an early 43.

Sorry for the confusion about the ASM, but the 1944 G6 was out fitted with both GM1 and MW50 and would  be the stop gap between the 109G10 and G6 we currently have in AH.
