H2H 2nd Round, Ghosth, vs Ammo!
« on: April 21, 2000, 09:48:00 PM »
What a nail biter this one was.

We flew from F1, 20k merges.
First match, me in spit 5 vs ammo in p51.
Could have stretched out for a long fight but he reversed once too often, & I had enough E to climb up his six, filled him full of lead.

2nd match, he's in spit, I'm in Niki, never had a chance, by 3rd merge he's d200 on my tail returning the favor.

3rd match, spit vs spit and this one was TIGHT! Around & around & around but I pulled an aggressive merge & got angles on him. I'm d300 lighting him up,shedding all kinds of parts.

4th match, spit 5 vs 109. I knew I was in trouble the second I saw that 109. All I could do was try to delay the inevetible.
Sure enough it didn't take him long to get major alt & E on me. Soon I'm spiraling down in pieces.

Score is 2 to 2, Rubber match.
kieren is witnessing the last fight.

5th match I was sure Ammo would bring that darn 109 up again. So, I tried a radical departure from my ussual t & b planes, brought up a p51.

Merge at 20k, he's grabbing air, I'm grabbing distance. Back and forth, back and forth.
Him trying to set me up with me dodgeing out of harms way. Me trying to get guns on him and always failing. Eventually he gets me low
down in the canyon country SW of f1. Worst possible terrain in the world for me & a p51.
He's setting me up endlessly, franticly I dodge, duck, dive, then bank around missing cliffs by inches. Stall horn a constant scream in my ear.

Then it happens, one of those 30mm rounds hits eng, black smoke, loseing oil.

Increaseingly desperate I try everything I've every learned. All to no avail, ammo is constantly on my high 6. No place to run, I try a desperation shot at d1.2, no joy.

Wait, he keeps comeing in lower, why?
Why isn't he staying high waiting for me to die? He knows my motor will seize any second now.
Lower, dodge again, point my nose straight down the canyon & try again for speed.

Behind me I see him settle lower, and lower.
Falling farther & farther behind.
Eventually he lands. He's run out of fuel!

My motor dies but I'm still alive.
Kieren confirms that ammo's down.

Ammo outflew me every which way possible.
But it was so close a fight, that he ran out of fuel before I died.

Salute Brother! NEVER in 4 years of flying have I seen such a fight!

I hate winning like this, but the show must go on.

BTW, it is fights like this one that make a H2H ladder an exciteing thing. No multiplayer furball has ever had my heart beating, my palms sweating, arm's shakeing from fatigue, as these H2H fights do.

In November last year In was approached by Ghosth in the TA at WB's. I was a very green new to flight sim type of guy. We hooked up and had many H2H matches him coaching me on all he knew. So When i think of AH or Wb's i think of Ghosth!

Ghosth that was the most intense duel Ive ever had!!! TY and sir that was a well fought match.  I salute you sir!

I hope you go on to win thsi thing for the 332nd

Well ammo if your going to say that much tell the rest of the story.

Of the litterally hundreds of people I've flown with, of the 50 or so that I have seriously tried to help. Ammo was from the start the best student of the game I've ever seen. Yes when I first met him he was green as they come. However he long ago outgrew what I could (or would   ) teach him. He's gone on to become in my mind anyway, one of the best.

I still can't believe that you didn't win that last match. BTW, the film from my standpoint is extremly impressive.

Anyone wanting to take a peek just yell.

Salute Ammo! Your First Rate!
