Man, I am so psyched for this game!  All the recent beta test 'open houses' are adding to the need ;)

CMBO is a great game, but CMBB is going to be amazing!

CMBO is a great game, but playing it makes me feel like I'm in micro-management hell.  I shudder to think about the exponential growth in micro-management skills I'll need for battles of Eastern Front scale.

DMF,
Just be glad Combat Mission isn't an RTS.  Now that would be micro-management hell - as well as unrealistic.  CMBB won't be much more difficult than CMBO.  The game expands mostly in the area of terrain, units, and vehicles.  There are some new commands, but they are very welcome additions IMHO.  Commands like Cover Arc, Move to Hull Down, Shoot and Scoot.

Is that game really all that good?  I looked at it once... long time ago.  Not sure exactly what I thought about it.

When I first saw screenshots of CMBO I was totally unimpressed, because the graphics quality was relatively poor when compared to other 3D games.  But, then I gave the demo a try and was surprised at how well it all worked together.  And because of the scale of the game the graphics were less important than I thought.  Since that time many people have added 3rd party mods for just about every object in the game, enhancing the graphics.  There are even 3rd party mods for the interface.

With CMBB the number of polygons for most object have been bumped up, and the best 3rd party mod'ers were recruited to make the in-house objects and interface.

The game itself is amazingly good at depicting tactical combat, combining order delays with reactions to enemy fire and artillery.  Spotting enemy units is an unsure science as you'll sometimes 'hear' an unseen enemy vehicle but not know its actual location, or you every tank you 'see' at first looks like a Tiger.
