The Ar 234's Periscope had a dual function. The Periscope was used to aim the rear guns, and also for shalow angle dive bombing, providing some sort of aiming point no mater how rudementry would be a big help in using this plane in this capacity.

The JU 88 was equiped with a Dive bomb sight as well, and this was used to great effect.

Bothe of these sights were very accurate and very complex and well designed tools, the JU 88's sight ;ooked much like another reflector sight mounted above the piolets head, I have posted pictures of this before, unfortunatly, I Mislayed the referance I had for this:(

With the arival of the new bombing system the abaility to dive bomb is more and more appealing, and the abaility to use the tools that these planes had as standard equipment would be nice as well, after all they are bombers, why not have model, their sight, it is kinda like leaving the gunsight off on a fighter.

All true, but dive bombing in AH is already very easy.

if you have a gunsite or at low alt it is easy, but not from the schnellbomber (at least not for me)

First: Divebombing is uber-easy in AH, just go into a completely vertical dive (I usually idle the engine for this, cept in planes with dive flaps) and release your bombs while vertical and sight over target.

Second: To use the rear guns in the Arado, just hit F3 for external mode and then 2 on the keypad to get a forward view. Now just move the plane (a little tricky) so the shells hit the target.

Excelent! Nice post mate ty:)

I think my point may be lost on some of you, this would enable the accuracery that these planes were famed for to be modeled and used, it is a guesing game at this point, branted it is easy to do I do it all the time my self, but the sight would enable us to do it from heigher altitudes and further away, such a devise would allows to excape the ack envelope, and to return some sembalance of bombers atacking targets like hangers with a meashure of consistancy.

In the case of the Arado, a shalow angle high spead dive bomb atack would enable u to throw your bombs onto the target. and get the heck out their, curently the plane is almost usless.

Ya I use the F3 mode one the Arado, but it is BS, I want my freking sight:), I think this may be why we did not get the TU-2 it to has a rear gun that neads a periscope to work. I love the Arado it is one of my favorate planes, i would just like it to be more compleat in the terms of it's modeling.

 It has no:

   Dive bomb sight.

   Drag Chute.

   Gun sight.

   cup holder.

And please dont get me started on the JU 88:)

Using the scope to dive bomb? hehehe
Knowing the "Objects in your mirror are closer than you think" syndrome, I can't wait to see the results :D

And this is what was displayed to the pilot of the Ju-88 on the STUVI during the divebombing attack while using the BZA computer

Thnx MadBirdCZ and Grendel for awesome pics.

I have been curious about the Ju88 divebomb site since i read about it in "A Luftwaffe Bomber Pilot Remembers" by Klaus Haberlen.

I agree with Brady.  Bring the Ju88 Dive bombsite to AH.

Just engage the dive brakes do a vertical dive have the eng. at fullpower or idle aim with gunsite and release your bomb

I've done that with a F6F with rockets two 1000 pound bombs

flak hit me many times, but I droped my bomb load on that carrier

NOW IF I CAN DO THAT YOU CAN TO!!!!

SO STOP WINEING AND BOMB SOME TARGETS WITH OUT THE DIVE BOMBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem thank you

Akira,

you should really read what is being discussed before opening mouth and spewing out stupidities.

We're talking about airplanes with dedicated, advanced computerlike bombsights. Not ring and bead air to air gunsights that can be used in vertical dive bombing. That's a completely different thing.
