Having to call Microsoft to re-register your operating system every second or third  upgrade you make to your system -- whenever WinXP decides that its current system configuration is 'different enough' from its registration configuration that it might be installed on another system, rather than the one you registered it for.

Easymo, whut animal said. I have W98, groomed as he put it, and it handles any games I sick on it.. or am likely too.

I prefer w98 over the new systems simply because it'll run all my old DOS stuff. Best legacy platform winders has is W98/98SE, IMHO.

Got a buddy runnin XP.. he likes it, seems stable.. won't run any cool old dos stuff.

If you got the ram and a good vid card and enuff processor, w98 will run microdork CSF3 and IL2.

I was just curious if there was something that they put into these games (FA, WB3) that absolutely required SE.  Doesn't sound like it.

That is partially correct,  the newer versions of the MS installer check your OS version and will terminate the install process before completion.

MS is determined to kill Win 9X.
