Searching for Bomber Pilots
« on: August 09, 2002, 05:46:12 PM »
Im new to AH,but played Aw for years. ALthough I truly enjoyed the fighter planes, the most fun I had playing was in the heavy bomber group my friend (VETTE) and I formed. We had alot of guys in it, and we all enjoyed our weekly missions. We were called Heavy Bomb Group. We needed an escort sister squad so we got with JG26, and between all those guys we had a great time. We often contacted COs of other squads (Nighthawks,Nightmares,52nd,JG27,Kiwis,and others)and formed multi squad operations. Ive only been here a month now and see that something of this sort would be fun to do. If it exists Im unaware of it,and would like to get involved. I enjoy drawing up mission plans with maps, waypoints, etc. I know its too much to ask of the community to perform this way nightly. However one night a week to look forward to, with organized play really makes the game come alive. Any game. I suggest all bombers of every country get on a mail list, and form a coalition of sorts to plan such nights, Ive found that the bombers lead the way. Fighter pilots will go where the action is, be them escort or intercept. Please fill me in on any info I may be unaware of...Im not talking individual squad actions, rather multi squad affairs. Thanks for your time.

I'd love to, but I'm curious how you would address the issue of team loyalties?  Eg, you didn't mention if you were looking for Bish, Rook or Knight bombers.  What's to stop y'all from organizing a great big bombing mission and meeting a flock of Me-262s because people from all three teams knew about the operation?

As part of our regular squad night's I plan missions open to everyone. We've had some large scale buff formations with fighter escort and had a blast, even got compliments from the opposing team :) Although things are a bit slow right now with it being mid summer and all you're more than welcome to come and join us on a sortie.

Chairboy..I would create an email list for the bombers. Each side would have its bomber force to use when they have the task of bomber unit for that week. Although anyone wishing to be bomber could change country and join into that country`s bomber group for a night. There are always a few that dont play be the rules but as a whole most who get involved in something like this do.  The goal here would be to have one night where the all the bombers of a country work together, on one goal. Once you start something like that and its seem by others to be a good time, they will want to join in as well.
Revvin...my email is fluxputz@aol.com...next time you plan an op id like to join in.

Hi FiLtH - as you know from AW, I am (or was) primarily a Bomber pilot.  However, since the new bombing method was introduced, I have found myself doing it less often - mainly because I just can't seem to hit anything anymore... I suppose I really need to practice, but never seem to have the time needed.  Instead, I end up in GVs most of the time.

If you do organise anything though, it might just be enough to get my interest going again enough to give bombing another try;  however, I suspect you may be talking about times which are too late for me anyway....

Flossy Im having a tuff time learning the bomber drop as well. I can hit an area now though thanks to yodac`s help. And thats really good enough for what I propose. What time would be good for British players? Also anyone who IS good at bombing..like yodac...can help others get better at it. We need to get the fun mass bombing runs going. You are too good to be sitting in a GV all the time Flossy! :)

I'm OK with the 'routine' of bombing now, but after being used to always hitting my targets to very rarely hitting anything, it comes as quite a shock to the system....  :)

What time would be good for British players?
Anytime from about 3.00 pm Eastern (8.00 pm in UK/9.00 pm CET) is good for us, until about 7.00 pm Eastern (midnight UK/1.00 am CET), most nights.  Tonight is out for me, because it is our 28th Wedding Anniversary, so we will be having a meal out this evening - and tomorrow, I will be hosting a SnapShot in the Special Events Arena (Cry Havoc!) at 3.00 pm Eastern - which you would be very welcome to come along to!  :D

I guess the thing to do now, would be to start a list of interested squads/COs or individuals, their country, and if they prefer bomber, escort, or intercept roles. Ive started an email list with a few guys who have mailed me. So far I have a rooks and a knights list started. Send me a line at fluxputz@aol.com and I will add you to them.
