F4Fand FM Wildcat

Can't vouch for it though.. first one I found with a date.

"The final mark - the FM-2 - introduced in March 1943, was equipped with a more powerful engine and proved very effective. GM delivered 4,777 FM-2s in just over a year."

Oops.. found Baugher's page too......

"At the end of the war, four USN pilots had become aces on the FM-2: Lt. R. Elliot (VC-27) with nine kills, Lt Cdr H. Funk (VF-26) with six, Lt. K. Hippe (VC-13) with five, and Ens J. McGraw (VC-10 and VC-80) with five. Total claims for the FM-2 were 420."

My first real experince with the FM2 was last night. Wow! Handles like a Spit V (my favorite ride) but seems tougher.

Guess I'll be wearing blue more often.  :)
