Close Encounters of the Third Reich Part II
Setup: Perdonia Map: Quasi-Rolling planeset
German (Knight) vs British/American (Bish)

The initial front will be a diagonal from the SW corner of map to the NE corner of the map.
Bases along this front will have early war aircraft.  The further bases are from the front,
the more advanced aircraft become available.

Each land base will have a SINGLE  fighter available from a given era
Some "deep" land bases may have multiple bombers available.  All bases will have PNZR/M16s/M3s/C47s available.  German CVs will have 109F4s and JU88s available.  Allied CVs will have TBMs and SBDs and either FM2s or F4F-4s. CVs support LVTs and PTboats.

I dont plan to modify the arena settings from the last setup.
Down time for field objects is 30 min.
All other variables per CT norms.

The purpose of this setup is to try to create a dynamic planeset.   This will be a repeat of last setup to see if I can tweak this one to create better gameplay.

NOT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

I love ya Jarbo, you are the man in my book, but your too hooked on this damn close encounters set-up.
We just had this one.
You have no idea how bad I hate to be critical of the work you guys do. Jarbo I do really appreciate all you do, but do we have to have this set-up each time it's your watch?
Sorry man, like I said ,I have a world of respect for you, but this one comes up way too often. IMO

here's an idea the front line bases are early war right,

so if you take a enemy front line base dont have early war planes as the prize for taking the base make it late war planes

also shorten the ack and vh down times to 5min leave others as is to prevent milkrunning
and make it harder to take a base ( nothing less than a decent sized mission to take a base) with these settings i would think.

that way if some one breaks through and takes a base or two with late war planes as the prize what started out as early planes vs early planes will soon be late and mid vs late planes

also the layers of planes at fields might be set as this

early   late   mid   for knights same for bish

upon capture the layers would be  late   mid   early

anyway just some thoughts i am sure there are some flaws in this

  any thoughts?

I am no fan of these setups.  I think we should stick with the historical type setups.  My favorites have been (in no particular order):

Flying Tigers
the Slot
that north africa one we had awhile back
Battle of Britain
the Russia vs IJN one (kuril islands wasnt it?)
Stalingrad
Pantelleria

I have been looking forward to the Coral Sea one that was supposed to be coming up.

Other ideas I would like to see:

-South Pacific '43
-South Pacific late war
-Midway
-Europe '44 (battle of britain map but with '44 planeset, kind of a Normandy type setup)
-China,Burma, India,  '43-'45

Again this isnt meant to criticize in any way the CMs.   I guess I mainly just object to having it scheduled so closely on the heels of the first time it ran a few weeks ago.

I agree sticking with the historical setups is the way to go, and I'm ok with the quasi-historical too, someone mentioned US vs USSR 1945.

I personally don't like this set-up, but I'm not opposed to trying new things, and I wouldn't want to say never run this setup because there may be many who like it.  But the point is this setup  doesn't appear to be that popular and this is not the second time it's been run in the last few weeks but the third. 6/21/02, 7/26/02 and now 8/16/02.

It's different, still better than the MA and I would still fly in it.  But I think were better off going with something else and giving this one a rest.  Just my opinion.

But definitely want to say to Jarbo and the rest of the CT staff.  I may not like this setup, but I very much appreciate the effort these guys make in setting up and maintaining the  CT for us.

I understand and hear your sentiments.  I won't run this on my next turn.   My current schedule won't allot me the time to change this one mid-stream, but I will create something new for next go-round.  Thank you for your honest, concise, and constructive feedback.
