How did you find AH?

My story may be a little out of the ordinary.

In 1999 I was in a virtual squad the 91st Fighter Group.  We played a game online via hosting called Screaming Demons over Europe.  We flew B17s online to practice for the upcoming over hyped game B17 2.  The game was so friggin unstable we spent more time forming on the runway and lag crashing than it was worth.

My squaddie Sunchaser mentioned this game in Beta that was tottaly online play.  This was around September 1999. We quiclky adapted to the B17 in AH and used it for practice and soon became our obsession.  About 1 month later it was announced that B172 would not support online play.  We really didnt care at that point because AH proved to be so much more fun anyway.

I have been here ever since...

Went on a 7 month\s trip to sea. When I got back most of my squad (air_squadron) had moved to AH (version 1.02).

I left FA and joined up and played it ever since :D

I was searching for WWII aces and stubbled apon AH, i played the 2 week trial and couldn't quit. :D

After playing AW for close to 9 years, I couldn't get rid of my addiction and WW2OL was a placebo and only AH seemed to ease the pain of withdrawls.

Found it on Combatsim I think, Spent a few weeks trying to kill an ack offline  joined the open Beta V0.36 (I think) Back in the days when you could come steaming in in a goon and drop at 10ft (OK Get ready to start running guys). ;) I seem to remember the Ack was tougher then but maybe I just got better at dealing with it.

I found AH at about 3am on a game-Demo download sight, and at this time, I had a crapy internet service, It took hours, and more hours just to download.  I had to redownload the game 5+ times to get things to finally work correct, but i am glad i hung in there :D :D

I started following HT and Pyro in the CK beta, which then turned to WB. I still have fond memories of putting my zekes nose straight down at 20k and diving in after ponies (you guys think the Niki is bad, the CK-Zeke was ultra-uber).

Just after AH went open beta IEN/WB went down the toilet. There were periods when WB servers were completely offline for up to 72 hours.

So I was left with a choice, stick with crap servers, no response to emails, crap customer service, pay by the hour, lacklustre development. OR put up with a bit of beta code, good servers, fast development, response to emails, flat rate.

Never looked back cept I do miss a few WB buddies like rekkof, fokr, gryph (think hes at WW2OL now), finn, etc.

I found out about AH from Soulyss.  I was playing a lot of Rainbow 6 and Rogue Spear.  Souly, his roommate and another guy all had a share of a T1 that they used to host games on.  Well, one weekend, they hadn't hosted a single game at all.  So the next time I saw Souly on ICQ, I messaged him asking if he was going to host.  He said probably not because he and his friends had found some multiplayer flight sim that was in beta and they hadn't stopped playing it for some inordinate amount of time.  Being a huge airplane and flight sim fan, I asked where to get the game.  He sent me the link, I downloaded it, and have been hooked ever since.

That first night, I remember trying to take off, trying to shoot someone down, and trying to land.  I think I got killed about 20 times, got maybe 3 kills.  Was crazy fun.

Was flying EAW on the Kali servers until it started to die out, found AH (God knows where from) in tour 1 and decided to stick around here until Multiplayer B17-II came out......still waiting.
