HiTECH, PYRO!!! I'm semi-serious this time
« on: April 27, 2000, 01:37:00 AM »
I joke around about wanting the HE-162 in AH,
and I would like to see it eventually,
BUT after tryin' to kill a couple of Panzers today with the new patch, and it's improved Panzer armor, I am honestly asking for HTC to add this plane or one like it.
Now granted this is a WARBIRDS™ screenshot, but I think it's a plane that would fit in nicely with the others we have, plus it's a DEDICATED TANK BUSTER.

I present the JU-87 G

As the screenshot tells you, Ju 87G has been already done in other game. I think it's better to model similar plane that has not been in online sim before. I think Il-2 or Hs 129 would fit the bill, Il-2 is more propable.

Although no air sim would be complete without a stuka, we shouldn't forget that the Il-2 was produced in greater numbers than any other plane in WWII.  (Besides, from what I've heard it was armored like a tank too.)    Either one would be deadly to tanks.

I may be confused, but I thought I saw the Il-2 mentioned by HTC once as being on "the list."  Is this true?

Yes, the IL-2 and the HS-129! (seen before only during CK beta-testing).

Ah, can you imagine all the whines about HO between PzIV and IL-2

I think the Hs 129 would be really interesting.  Truly the forefather of the A-10.

Hs129 would be great.

Other honorable mentions that pack big cannons suitable for tank busting (and much more survivable that a Stuka or IL-2):

P-63, Me-410, Yak-9K (or TK), or the Beaufighter.

How about some  ground  debris, trees that hide you and no dots first so that your fancy planes don't make the Tanks obsolete within the game?

I say leave the ID on when a tank is firing or moving. Leave the ID off when the tank is parked.

In all honesty, I don't really care WHICH Tank Buster we get, as long as it kills em quick.

I was a little disgusted yesterday, when I dropped two 1000 lb eggs on a Panzer which were very near misses......now given the fact they didn't hit dead on, there still shoulda been a helleva lotta damage done to that Panzer.  BUT NOOOOOOooooo! it kept right on toolin' along.

Gimme something with REALLY big guns that is solely dedicated to killin tanks, I don't want some UBER-Cannon monstrocity that is a HO'ers dream come true, it should be slow, clumsy, and pack one bodacious punch.

Like the Stuka, IL-2, or HS-129

Face it the Typhoon just don't cut it as a tank killer.

How about severly limiting the range at which the icon for ANY AFV appears, but add a nice dust trail behind it when it moves (anyone remember the little dust roostertail that followed the paratroopers in brand-W as they ran along the ground?).  As soon as the vehicle stops (or slows below, say, 5 mph/8 kph) the dust trail disappears.  This would also serve another valuable purpose, by showing the direction of the moving armor.  Dust was a real factor in armor conflict, and could also serve to realistically complicate aiming at a cluster of moving AFVs in tank-to-tank situations.  I'd also like to see smoke generators added, but this is probably beyond what HtC has in mind for vehicles in the game (not to mention the potential framerate hit).

Why doesn't the Typhoon cut it as a tank killer? Please explain, I've found it very effective.
