The Lord of the Rings contained three death scenes essential to the story. All were very well done. The "death" of Sauron at the beginning of the movie. The death of Boromir near the end.
But the death that was most beautifully rendered, and which remained true to Tolkien's original mood and intent, was the "death" of Gandalf on the Bridge of Khazadum.
"Fly you fools!"
Aragorn's lament: "Farewell Gandalf!" he cried. "Did I not say to you: if you pass the doors of Moria, beware? Alas that I spoke true! What hope have we without you?"
