Could you swing by tuesdays and thursday around 8 or 9 est to make sure the ct is up?  I know its not really your job, but many guys fly tuesday and thursday only.  Its our big recruitment night in the ct.  Kinda like opening night for your new map.  Would mean plenty to us.

Well it worked out very well, but those damn knits *bish spies* alerted the germans as to our position.  We had 5 formations of b17s at 27k feet over the channel when the 109s dived on us.  We only lost one bomber due to the loss of an engine, and our fighter cover was still a sector away due to a late launch by the bombers.

Over france the losses were greater, 1 of my formation was taken out with a single lucky flak burst.  We got to target with 13 of our original 15 bombers, but the run was not great due to heavy fighter cover.   On the way back to england I was shot down somewhere north of paris.  3 bombers were missing in action over a36 (he had to go to bed), 9 bombers landed safely in england, and 3 were taken out before and over the target.  60% survival.  Pretty realistic.

Thanks for the great setup guys

Sounds excellent!

Damn shame I had to miss it, but it got to 3am here and i couldn't fly any more. (My excuse for getting slaughtered by Spits anyway). I was looking forward to practising my slashing attacks on your B17s :)

ergRTC,

That was one if the most enjoyable fights yet for me and the 27th sentai in the CT was that bombing mission.

We knew you would be coming so we set out to search for you
in 109's and fwa8's what gave you away was that vb79 (which started flashing when you guys left a53 ) unfortunatly by the time we found you our fw190's were close to empty fuel tanks which left only the 109,s to attack the formations which was not the plan. me and hawk spotted a lone p51 (a scout i am assuming) we were able to down him but had to rtb for fuel.

After that there was a little lack of org. and were not able to set up proper group attacks on your bombers as we had planed (b17's require group attack tactics if you plan on having any success )

to you and all who flew this mission was one of my favorite nights in the CT .:)

Just as I spotted the B17 formation my a8's gas ran out.  Still, who ever thought that plane could fly so high?  As you say, it was one of the better nites - and, know what? - I didn't get a chance to fire my guns once.

Thats the sole reason we were up at 27k (besides historical ones of course).  I knew the 190s would poop out long before then, so that limited possible interceptors to 109s.  Not like that is any better, but in this case it worked.

Want to thank all who participated in the mission Thurs night. VF27 had some really fine help from the great pilots from 880, Warloc,Miska, jededii,TheBug hope i didnt leave anyone out. The CT can plan on seeing more of this from VF27Hellcats, so all you axis boys shine up your 109s,190s,Zekes,Zeros,Nikis and what ever else (plz not the 262 lol)and get rdy cause the USN is on its way( by the way i served in the army infantry, not a true squid)to kick some but in the ct (or get it kicked which happens sometimes by the great pilots who fly the ct)good luck to ya youre gonna need it(us too prolly hehe) see ya in the sky!

That was my best night of simming in a LONG time.  Salute to VF27 and the LW/IJ squadrons in there.

Now I think someone needs to edit a film of that mission so it shows the action from the time the bombers were feet wet right up to the drop.  It was slash-slash-slash all over the place.  I nearly got shot down by overexcited bomber gunners :)

That film then needs to be uploaded and advertised on the main discussion board.  If anyone in the MA should be flying CT, they will know it right away when they see that film.

I know terror was filming.  We will have to ask him.  I dont know anything about using the film editor.
