Medieval: Total War
« on: September 15, 2002, 01:30:00 AM »
All I have to say about this game is GET IT. I've never seen such great graphics on a game of this genre (Stronghold and Cossacks: European Wars come to mind). It has everything you could want in a middle ages based strategy game: turn based empire building, real-time 3D combat, campaign mode, skirmish mode (with over 315 maps, then the climate and architecture is customizable for the chosen map) and a scenerio builder. Nothing relieves stress more than watching 1,600 French peasents walking into 1,600 British Arquebusiers. I'll let you decide the outcome of that one :). Anyway, here are the system reqs:

16MB DirectX 8.1 compatable video card
Pentium II/Athlon 350Mhz+
English version of Win98/2000/Me/Xp
128MB RAM
4X CD-ROM
1.7GB HD space + 200 MB for swap file
16 bit DirectX 8.1 compatable sound card
Keyboard
Mouse

Was wondering how long it would take for this game to get a mention here.

I picked it up a couple weeks ago, as I've always been a big fan of  strategy/war games and after a couple of campaigns I haven't been this ingrossed in a single player game since the original Civilization. And think that after a few more games I might even go as far to say that it's even better.

The campaign map and empire building alone is outstanding, the sight and sounds of the massive 3D battles and castle sieges are truly amazing.

And this is all without even trying the multiplayer aspects of the game yet.

If anyone here has even the slightest interest in strategy games, medieval history and all out carnage it's a must buy! Though the big battles and castle sieges do come at a price, system specs.

I played Shogun: Total War to death... haven't picked up Medeival yet though.  I played the demo and it didn't seem like it added a whole lot of value.  I'll probably pick it up eventually... :)

Does it have perk planes in it??? If it doesn't have perk planes it can't be worth anything. I mean, how can you talk about the validity of the FM and the gun damage models even!!!!
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
