CAP Campaign info.
« on: September 17, 2002, 05:22:11 AM »
OK lads, here's a little extra info on the campaign and how it all fits together.......

So far we've had 1 frame but some very important developments have occured.  1)  Germany occupy Norway.  2)  The carrier Ark Royal is lying at the bottom of the North Sea.

The next frame is Dunkirk, the BEF is trying to evacuate from France and return to the safety of England.  Now, *IF* Norway had been able to repulse the German invasion the troops being saved at Dunkirk *could* have been transported to Norway and used to strike at occupied Europe from the North.  This can no longer happen so an entire branch of section 1 is not applicable. ;).

So, what happens at Dunkirk?  Well if the LW prevents the BEF from evacuating then Britain will find itself short of ground forces in upcoming frames.  It wont make much difference to the Battle of Britain but should Operation Sealion go ahead......the British will have a noticable lack of equipment on the ground and ships protecting the channel.

What's more, the Ark Royal could have played a major part in the defense of Dunkirk and Britain itself in future frames......but not any more.  A replacement has been commissioned and, of course, the British have other Aircraft carriers.....but the Ark Royal is gone.....and that's serious.

Dunkirk is Germany's chance to do something that never happend in real life:  To strike a blow to the Royal Navy and seriously impact the British blockade of Germany.  If the Royal Navy fleets suffer a serious defeat at the hands of the Luftwaffe, The Fuhrer may allow German shipping to roam the seas again.  Who knows, maybe, just maybe, the Graf Zeppelin will be completed this time.

So you luftwobbles, practice your carrier landings in 109s.....
