Ok rooks...
After futile attempts at trying to get help to defend one of the "Zone Bases" of AKDESERT map I realized that nobody had a clue about how the new zone strat system worked.

My only hope is that if I explain it here you will read it and put a stop to us getting our arses handed to us on that map.

All sections of the map have strats. These strats are owned by the country that owns the "Zone Base" for that zone. All large fields are "Zone Bases".

Any enemy base within a zone gets NO resupplies.

When a "Zone Base" is captured all the strats belong to the country that took the base. Even if the zone has 30 of our bases and 2 enemy bases (1 of them being the "Zone Base") we will get no supplies to our fields.

This means that town rebuild time is longer. Troops will not come back. Fuel will not come back. Ammo will not come back. You get the idea.

This can be countered by manually resuppling bases with dozens of C47 runs.

Of course with our numbers always low we don’t have the manpower to run all these supplies.

The logical response to this is that we need to keep all zone bases, and also try to capture others. The meaningless slamming of a small field in the middle of a zone is usless. If we kill all the strats then capture it, the base will be useless to us without 10 or so C47 runs.

We need to concentrate our efforts on getting to these "Zone Bases", and also killing strats at enemy bases that are in our zones. This is what the bishops and knights seem to be doing to us every time we are on this map.

Well that’s my two cents worth of strategy on the AKDESERT map. I hope you all understand this now and we can work together on winning this map for once.

Zones are irrelavent.

Rebuild times for hangars in enemy zones are unchanged.  A hangar will take 15 minutes to rebuild in an enemy zone, just like a friendly zone.

Other strat supposedly takes half again or twice as long to rebuild, but I havn't tested it.  For the most part, the huge number of fields makes these increased rebuild times fairly unnoticable.

I've made copies of this and will submit it to my flight leader...

On review it will be submited to the XO for his approval..

If approved it will be submitted to the CO..

At that time if the CO deems it appropriate it will be distributed to the squad members at our weekly meeting...

..after the "entertainment"

depending of course on how long the "entertainment" lasts..

Most times we never get past the "entertainment"

And this week looks to be exceptional :D

It's not that most of us don't know the strat system, it's the fact that most of us hate the pizza and don't care who resets it.

Something seems strange too.

 Today I've seen a:

1) a field get captured with town buildings up
2) a field get captured with "invisible troops" - two friendlies were waiting right in front of the map room, don't see any GV near by, and then *whammo* field capture, ack up, GVs die)
3) deacked field reacked under 10 minutes(I know, because I was there when the field was freshly deackec)

 ...

if ur gona log on and fly to  LOSE, why up a fighter or buff.
just up a goon and keep announcing on channel 1 where ur ar

You are correct...strats do not affect hangar rebuild time.  Hangars and the shore batteries, however, are the only structures that are not affected by strats.  While I haven't formally tested it, either, I have seen fuel, ammo, etc stay down an inordinate amount of time on the pizza map.  Here is a chart showing how long different things stay down without resupply.

The other part we all seem to miss is the effects of destroying factories and cities within the zone.  Only with them destroyed is the full effect of the strat model able to be brought into play.  I believe the pizza map is the only one with this model implemented, but I am not sure.

on the pizza map it doesnt matter how long fuel etc stays down.

There are so many alternate fields, nobody cares, or indeed notices the increased times.  The lack of an effect on hangars makes it worthless for attempting to take a base, since the VH will always come up after only 15minutes, and you're going to get swarmed with ostwinds.

The only practical effect of strat is that you can bomb a field's fuel and stop an attack.

that is why the rooks get reset on the AK map all the time the are oblivious to the strat side of that map @ first I thought rooks just dint like pizza only Beer....

I like this map. It's weekend chore friendly.

Just take drop tanks and mow the lawn. Come back, scroll the map in and out alot.
