While some people may think a certain group of German soldiers with a pair of choice letters in their unit name might have been a harmless group of swell guys, I don't think ANYONE can say the same about the subject of THIS guy's handle.

Flynazi and sswaffen both have handles which are offensive in my opinion and should be asked to change them. Whether they were intended to be offensive is not really the question. If other cpids which are offensive in nature, such as those starting with F (and I don't mean Firetruck) aren't allowed, then these should not be allowed either. It was evident in the arena last night that some people were in fact offended. I don't really think that these are proper cpids.

I think people offend too easily, personally. Then again, I can't remember the last time something as trivial as an online name offended me.

For that matter, I can't remember the last time I was offended by anything.

Reminds me of the marches in Skokie back in the late 70's. Everyone was up in arms because ol whats-his-name and his pro-nazi nincompoops were going to have a pro-nazi march in predominatly Jewish Skokie, Illinois. If everyone had stayed home and ignored them they'd have looked pretty silly out there talking to themselves. Instaid there were television news crews, helicopters...alll the publicity you could ask for.

...and before I hear the "you have to oppose it or it will grow" argument like many house plants these things die if you ignore them. They're after the attention.

I still think people are stupid.

Come to think of it, the Japanese took pot shots at my Dad fairly often, and the monarchy is still alive and well in Japan. Maybe anything Japanese should offend me...

I'm not offended so much by SSwaffens name as I am by his behaviour. He chose that name to offend people, and he is being as obnoxious as he can be about it.

By it's very nature, this is an emotionally charged game...it's not much fun 'til you know what you're doing, and even then it's not easy. This is definitely no place for thin skins, except those you can apply to your plane.

Game ids don't mean much in the MA, only how you treat others. However I feel this BBS is the place to discuss such matters. Please leave it out of the MA while we're playing.

FlyNazi chose his id to confront SSWaffen in the MA...obviously someone (FlyNazi) reading this thread. Waffen held his ground admirably, imo, without resorting to nastiness...though I suppose if you keep trying, even Waffen might succumb to the pressure, because he is a decent player, the kind we want.

I personally will be disappointed if Waffen changes his id because of whining. But then, you guys gave Niki pilots a bad name, and succeeded in perking the Chog. You are a formidible bunch.
