Ended up in a P-40E vs 3 202's and a 109.......about 5 minutes later I was rtbing 4 kills.....hehehe!  ;)
P-40 bleeds E even faster than a Jug, but you can throw her all over the sky ifluff'n ya watch your speed.
Was kinda thinking the Allies got the shaft on this setup, but after flying it for a bit, it just takes some planning ahead.  You'll get shot down for sure, but you can get some licks in before ya go down in flames.  Even the 110 will outrun the P-40, but if he ever turns........:D

We are missing 2 very important fighters for N Africa, The Gloster Gladiator MkI/II and the Cr.42, but we don't have either :(

After being on both sides of a 202's guns I found myself wondering if HTC had made some sort of mistake and put .303's inside the cowl instead.  So I wandered over to the online fighter gun tables and found that the 12.7mm Breda-SAFAT is really short and light round.  In short:

7.7mm Breda-SAFAT has a Q-Factor of 2730
12.7mm Breda-SAFAT has a Q-Factor of 4260 (Not a typo)
This gives the 202 a total Q-Factor (at convergence) of 8520 or 13980 depending on loadout.

The M2 on the P-40E has a Q-Factor of 7650!
This gives the P-40E a total of 45900 (at convergence).

In short, when you are popping away at short range with the two cowl mounted Breda-SAFAT, you are just about equivalent to one .50.  However the Breda round is 110FPS slower and 25% lighter so the ballistics suck eggs in comparison as well.

Not a whine, just information on the plane.

I had a great time this Saturday (once I got my joystick problems ironed out...loose hardware of all things:mad:).  I flew the P-40 exclusively, except for one C-47 sortie, and it really held it's own in this set up.  It's not a powerhouse by any means, and the Axis can control the fight if they play it right, but it is very competative in this setting.  I wouldn't want to tangle with a 109 above 12k or so, but below that it is a match for any plane in here.  Nice job on the set-up, the map, and the skins. !

TY for saying do sabre, couldent of done it without your input:)

HFMudd, one thing I am not shure your "q" factor is factoring, is that the Italian 12.7 used HEI rounds, so they contain chemical engery. The idea is this if the round can cary some explosive engery to the target than it nead not be so heavy. Also most air to air combat took place at around 400 yards so the lighter and shorter ranged rounds of the Breda are realy in keeping with a different aproach to air to air weaponary, than say that of US rounds and guns.  Having said that, by comparision Italian fighters(except series 5 planes) were typicaly armed much like Japanese Army fighter, two 12mm and two 7mm guns all firing primarly chenical engery weapons, HEI or Incendary rounds, even the 7mm rounds had a chemical filling. Now this subject has been debated at length but it is generaly considered that the Breda type rounds would have a good damaging effect do to thier design. Howeaver differing some what from the US 50 cal type weapon which primarly fired a solid AP type round. The solid ap type rounds were intended to defeat the piolet and the engine, while the HEI type rounds were more intended to defeate the plane, it's controll surfices the fuel tanks the airframe by blowing off chunks and seting it afire. The heaver AP rounds pentrated deaper, while the HEI rounds blew chunks off.

Somewhear their is a link showing a 202 on a P40's 6 just wasting it, you can chunks falling off as the rounds hit, old gun cam fottage very cool.

Well Wotan seemed to have no trouble last night landing 3 kill sorties in the 202 :D

I'll try to convince 880 to fly the 202 tonight.
