Nah dont bother.  Every sod and his dog has an MCSE these days.

I'm looking at a CCND next....not cos I'm interested, just to remain employable.

Anyone remember a few years ago when M$ lowered the requirements for a pass?  They raised em again pretty quickly.

Put it this way.....I used to work with an MCSE who once asked me how Windows knows to change the clock for daylight sayings time.  I think employers may also have noticed the falling quality of MCSEs as well......

That and the "A+ Certification"

I've worked in the PC industry for 10 years.  If you want someone that's booksmart work on your stuff...have at.  I'd take someone with realtime experience whose been too busy to leaf through 500 page books anyday.  Do I care the Mhz of the PCI bus?  No.  Do I know your PC isnt booting because the master/slave setting on your CDROM is conflicting with your hard drive's?  Yes.

Certifications are nice, but are just wall decorations.

I've got a friend who rubs his certifications in my face all the time....he gets them because he is a bored manager at a local Radio Shack and thinks he knows it all from what he sees in a book.  I've been inside hundreds of PCs and lots of networks...wanna place bets on who'd fix what faster?  Here's a hint...he still calls me when he's stuck  :p

and the MCSE is to get some more doors open for me.

up here in quebec(canada)..montreal to be more precise....the big Companies seem to open up more for certified people.

plus i needed more work on my Networking skills.

this is a program called Network Specialist....with the bonus of passing MCSE.

Paper=money. Dont fool yourself, companies WANT documentation as to how SKILLED thier work force is. Its often a selling point in various industries.

If you can get a school, take it. If nothing else it adds to your resume and might impress some HR dude.

Good luck

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

agree with lepaul.

no matter what qualifications you have, you still have to do your job, I know some guys who's got various qualifications and at the job they're stressed out cause they don't know what they're doing and end up having to fake it or talk their way out of things.

But msce, etc. is good for the resume, it looks better than say a few months of work experience, and could get you the job.  The important thing again is to be able to do your job, the job interview only lasts a few mins but the job lasts many months/years.

...but then if you were asking if anyone's done it and wouldn't mind giving you the answers to the questions, then no I can't help u sry.  :p

just like a college degree IMO.

you need it in most larger firms to get the door open.
you'll learn some stuff but when you get to the 'real world' you'll learn how to really apply it in 'real' situations.

The MS version of the world just doesn't exist.
However, it's good knowledge to have.

But I wouldn't pay for the cert either :)

Like Bat said  paper=money... gone are the days when your actual knowledge would get and keep you a job. Now if you dont have the paper to back it up you wont even get a interview.
