new install woes...

a friend is trying to get Aces High to run on his system and is running: Amd 1.8, 1.2gig ram, Gf4 128 ddr, TI4400.... Anyways he just loaded up the game,  and is a new user, hes not getting to the Set video screen and is at a blank white screen. What is causing this problem and how can he fix it?

hes also getting black screens then dumping to desktop.

What OS, If 2000 Makesure he has SP3
I hope he's using the 30.82 Nvidia drivers, I've found the detenator 40s have performance issues with AH and other games.  You could also try deleting the video.cfg file.  Does he have directX 8.1.  You really need to give more detail.  I hope I touched on something to get you going.

Turn down the sound hardware acceleration in control panel, system devices and Re-install DirectX

I get the blank white screen if I run AH immediately after connecting unless I wait a second before stating AH.  If you wait long enough (longer than you think) you will get an error box pop up which on mine usually indicates a DirectX sound problem hence the recommendation to turn down sound acceleration.
