I don't know if it's an issue that's the fault of my system or the result of too much alt-tab while flying, but I get a really bad problem with sound stutters. What I mean is, while I'm playing everything starts out fine, but after awhile when a plane comes near and a new sound initiates it causes frames to drop and the sound is distorted and broken.
I tried dropping sound acceleration with the control panel 'Multimedia' setting, but regardless of where I set the controls the same problem occured.
After trying to put in a different sound card I ran DXDiag and under the sound tab I found another control for DirectX Sound Acceleration. It was set to full acceleration. Ah ha! I dropped it down to the 3/4 position (standard) and now the problem is solved. I can't wait to see if the CTD's are gone as well!
