When it comes down to it she was and is a thief. The $5500.00 makes it a felony. If she entered the store with the intent to steal it is tantamount to burglary and in some jurisdictions would be charged as such. The fact that she did it during business hours is not germain to entering a building with the intent to steal. Burglary does not require forcefull entry.

Her "excuses" were pretty pathetic. Now she will be able to star in numerous prison movies and be able to give a creditable performance.  As to her celebrety status, ptooey. She is just paid to pretend on camera to be something she isn't in real life. In other words, a phoney. If she actually did something to benefit people then it would be a loss. She is just a petty thief. An atractive one albeit but still a common criminal. No loss.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

He over charged a famous person and got his name and mug in the media. He doesn’t have the time to peruse her for “real” jail time. He's running for office next year. He can’t upset her (voters) fans too much.

That's one of the things I've always loathed about the rich and famous. That is the fact that it's their money and prestige that keeps them out of jail and in their homes sipping their martinis.

The way I see it...I could care less who you are...you commit a crime, you do the time. Rich people have always been treated far better than the middle class simply because they have money. While that's the way this country will always be...I still don't like it.

Tits or not...pretty or not...if she doesn't get punished to the fullest extent for the crime she commited (felony grand theft and vandalism), then I will lose all faith in the judicial system.

Ahh, youth.  :)

The bottom line is, whether she's famous or not, is that she's a first-time offender and if she gets a light sentence that's probably the reason.

My sister, who's done plenty of stupid things in the past (and who is not famous), stole merchandise from a store she worked for over a period of time.  She was caught, convicted of a C-Felony, and the end result was a fine and plenty of community service - not to mention the fact that she was allowed to file to have the felony expunged from her record after she completed here sentence.  She did, and it was.  First time - non famous offender.

Oregon vs California, the laws may be different, who knows - but if it ends up that Rider doesn't get the electric chair, it's not necessarily a conspiracy.

Then again, the judge could be a big fan, and will let her off for an autographed 8x10.  :D
