Check 6 Question
« on: November 15, 2002, 10:12:02 AM »
I recieve check 6 calls both from enemy engagers and as warnings from friendly's during air to air combat probably 50 % of the time in the MA. I assume that this is fair sportsmanship on the part of the attacker and to make the engagement more challanging for them. Being a Newbe, I probably would never get a kill if I used it to warn a unsuspecting target at my present skill level, but on the other hand; appreciate the warning while I'm learning the SA part of the game.  Any input regarding the proper use, how to do it, or how others use it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
KSass

First off Check 6 function only works with those of your country. So you never got one from an enemy.

If your quick, you'll see a white text msg saying the same which includes who it was from. If he saved your life its polite to thank them.

To use check 6 simply hit the "  '  " key.
don't open radio, or anything just smack that ' key.

It will put a highlight box around whoever is closest to the center of your current view.
Not the right person? Just keep hitting the key till the correct person is highlighted. 1 second later it will send warning.

Use some common sense when useing this.
Only do it once for the same con. Only check 6 again if a 2nd possibly unseen con joins the fight.

If in doubt stop into the TA to practise.

It is possible to send the check 6 warning manually by tuning radio and typing exactly the same message that the ' key would send. This will activate the voice warning, too.

That way it might be possible to warn someone on the enemy side. Might work in a vulch situation or something.

CCVI,
Never tried that but wouldnt you have to know the ID of the person that you are check 6 ing to?  A bit confused on that one.

the  ' key is all well and good for doing a check 6 (and is very much appreciated) but while your tapping the ' key your SA will be low.

personally I prefer a spoken warning over the mic channel.

but this can have a problem with radio clutter

:)

If you're vulching someone repeatedly you know who he is. Otherwise, yes, difficult ;)
