ok.. just for grins, testing this digi-cam in movie mode:
it's shakey, crappy quality, etc etc.. but gives you the idea.
(use quicktime or an MJPEG codec)

Assburn

just wanna know if you can view it...

It's not working for me Wlfgng?

Btw...I want to take the family skiing early next year.  I could use some recommendations for hotels etc. in your area.

The only thing is:  I can ski, but the wife and kids can't.  It may not be worth going all the way to Colorado if all they are going to do is putter around on the bunny hills.  You thoughts?
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

Worked for me under RealPlayer. That the bunny slope?

And Curval--Colorado is a GREAT place to learn to ski. Perfect snow. Lots of variety. Some of the best ski schools on the planet are here w/ all the proper gear. A week will see the family heading down the blues like they were born to it.

I'm sure Wolf's got links galore in Snowmass, but there are other worthy places to learn (Vail, Copper, Monarch, etc) if the price gets to you... ;)

prices:  Vail is the most expensive in the state.
Aspen is next but you get 4 mountains to ski on and there are deals to be had, including 99$ for Roundtrip air from denver , lift ticket and lodging overnight (one night)

not the bunny slope..
here's the pic of the run from the chair lift looking up

started here: (Aspen Highlands behind me in picture)

The problem was that I held the poles with one hand, camera with the other.. kinda puts bumps off limits for the duration of filming.

as for running into the trees (lol) if you listen you can hear me turning to stop. (to tuck the camera back in pocket)

unfortunately it's taken with my little (elf) digital camera for stills.  I has the movie 'feature' but that's limited to the length shown.

I have more if you wanna email me I'll send em.

Colorado is absolutely one of the best places to learn.

Buttermilk (home of the winter X games) is the 'beginner' hill with tons of slow easy runs to learn on.l

Snowmass is world renowed for it's ski instruction, especially for young ones down to 2 or 3 yrs old.

email me at nick-tucker@attbi.com if you want more info including lodging, etc.

oh.. and hello from Colorado !

Monarch is going to open on time, Copper already is (I think) and Breckenridge is next -- sno-pack looks good on the "other" mountains too (finally) -- starts about 9k ft. -- perhaps this year we will have run-off!!

Looks like an easy cruiser run.  Probably a groomed blue......correct? To me those are the best run.  Well it only lasted 2 seconds but damn if you didnt make this snowboarder jealous.  Doesnt look like I am gonna be able to make it out west this year, which sucks because I've been every year for the past 5.  I guess I'll just have to make the drive up to Sugar Mountain, NC and board the nothing but ice molehills

yep, groomed blue (hard to ski anything else with one hand holding poles, other with camera)

the picture later in the thread shows the same slope from the chair lift looking up.

too bad you can't make it pfunk.  Good snow this year.

*edit*

oed.. no oak trees this high up :)
